Martin Demichelis

We should ignore Pearce's nonsense about '' Demichelis struggling like this'' and Lawrenson's cheap sarcasm about'' directing the traffic like a Buenos Aires policeman''.If we look at actual match incidents and not the impressions of clapped-out pundits, then. yes, there was one time when Torres in full flow swerved round his tackle. But , on three other occasions, he robbed Torres, once on the touchline and twice just outside the box . He also got the better of Oscar twice, one of which was a feint which the Brazilian bought. Another time he cleverly intercepted to thwart Hazard when he was motoring in on goal.Though he took stick from the pundits over the first goal, he hadn't'' forgotten about Schurlle ''' as they claimed. He reckoned he could cut out Torres' ball across the six yard box and he nearly did. True, the corner he conceded right at the start didn't look good but he probably expected Hart to take decisive action and then found he had to lash it out.
at all times,Martin Demichelis looked what he is- an experienced, streetwise central defender-seven years with Bayern Munich- whose headed clearances are powerful and accurate, whose tackles are hard and well-timed and who passes calmly and carefully out of defence.
Amid the 90th minute horror show ,the image that's better to remember is of Demich's effort when he ran across and flung himself into a valiant attempt to block torres' shot. his debut sure was a baptism of fire , marking Torres who suddenly looked like the world-class striker he was when liverpool first signed him.Demichelis was a shining light in the gloom and should make a good centre-back partner for VK -ASAP.

Ignoring the school boy error of defending witb ur arm raised and stopping and waiting for a decision he was ok but nothing more. He will. Improve of course but he needs to to bevanything other than a short term solution to a long term problem

I agree thought he played well, calm, composed, and is a experienced center half, but this was the wrong game for him to have his PL debut. MP should have gone with Lescott and Nastasic in a important match like this one was, then use Martin in the Newcastle or Norwich game.

You are never going to play a perfect game on your debut as central defender, but I was impressed as the game went on. His positioning and tackling were fine, but what was an improvement was his play with the ball. He was assured in possession and didn't look like Bambi on ice trying to get rid of a ticking bomb, which JL has a tendency to do. I fear JL will play fewer and fewer games for us from now on - if he wants to go to the world cup he should probably rejoin Everton.

You aren't George Graham

I thought he did very well. Especially considering he has not started a match since may.

1st half, City and Demichelis were a bit at sea in defence a few times, the lofted balls over our back 4 were causing trouble and our offside line was flaky. 2nd half he led the line really well and we rarely looked in trouble. He wasn't the one constantly giving Chelsea dangerous free kicks on the edge of our box in the 2nd half. I'd imagine MP sees him and VK as our preferred CB pairing.

I agree with you guy's too.

I was really impressed with him yesterday.

Our best defender yesterday, and his reading of the game and his class on the ball will be huge asset to us.

I thought he did well in difficult circumstances. Give him another game midweek in the League Cup to get his fitness levels up a bit and then stick him next to Kompany for the Norwich game and maybe the next few after that. Nastasic looks like he needs a break and I think Kompany might benefit from not having to hold someone's hand so to speak while he concentrates on getting himself back up to speed.

cant believe someone has taken the rating of demichelis performance by the daily rag mirror seriously , if the hart cock-up doesnt happen he gets an 7 out of ten , the mirror is a joke along with their spineless reporters , we know their agenda , i am surprised they dont collect their pay packets from the swamp He had a decent game , and for all the rantings about torres's world class performance , demichelis and nastasic restricted him to one decent chance , which he f**ked up

Think he'll do well alongside Kompany.

Obviously needs time to adjust to the pace and style of the PL, but he has plenty of experience of playing in Germany and Spain.
