Martin Samuel: The plot to shackle City & Chelsea

Surely the huge TV money deal thats coming in is partly due to City and Chelsea and the players they attract to the premier league??

One question. It probably has already been asked/answered.

Who do you think leaked the *Arsenal* letter?

Somebody inside the PL, Chelsea, or City?
Let's suppose you ask Scudamore this question. Which owner enhances the PL most from this list?

a) Malcolm Glazer?
b) Joe Lewis?
c) Stan Kroenke?
d) John W Henry?
e) Sheikh Mansour?

What do you think his answer would be?

Don't know if you remember PB, but he already answered the said question in a roundabout way.

"We have been here before, haven't we? Chelsea came in and spent money. Manchester City has every right – the club's owner has every right – to do what other clubs have done unto other clubs since professional football began."

Scudamore added that hyperinflation would be "foolish". He went on: "But if they want to acquire top talent, why should Manchester City be the one club singled out for not being allowed to do what professional football clubs have done for 110 years?" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... sfers.html

The thing is, if Platini and UEFA allow the Qatari/PSG deal to go through, they will open a loophole that can and will be exploited by City and other clubs.(Chelsea, etc)

Exactly jrb. So why would he want to encourage a system that discriminates against an owner who puts so much in (and brings some of the world's best players to his league) when none of the others do?

That might give you a clue as to who leaked this, as it shows the naked fear & self-interest of the other four owners up for what it is.

FFS what's up with you mancs ? Your as same as the chavs no class. Arsenal have had all there success and trophy winning exploits done by hard work and running a football club like it should be properly run. Spending what we have made through the turnstiles which is why we were able to fund our own 60,000 stadium.
Could you of done that noooo. Could you of won one poultry little title and fa cup without a sugar daddy nooooo.
We have been doing this for decades and the sour grapes come from your side of the fence because like the chavs you cannot buy history, you can try but forever in our shadows you will be.
AH lose a game to little city, di dums...

A question - apologies if someone's already asked it - but what sanctions exactly do the PL intend to impose if clubs fail to meet FFP ?

Just asked that question myself mate... im fooked if I know..

As GDM has said in his post ... whatever sanctions they try and implement (fines, points deductions, exclusion from the league) would just open them up to such enormous problems that it would quickly turn our league into a farce.

I offer the following obtuse reasoning.

City and Chelsea stay silent whilst the Rags & Arse persuade all the turkeys to vote for Xmas and are all herded into the pen of financial meltdown by Worzel Whelan.

Then all us 'big clubs' wring our hands at the unworkable league and run into Uncle Michel's open arms and, Bob's Your Uncle, the European League is born.

See how the turkeys up North are now begging for Rangers to come back, who in turn talk again about playing in England. Ashley's no fool...

@ The herd - UEFA bought the stadium for you, ha,ha money through the fucking turnstiles.

Just to pick up on another, earlier post, it's interesting there's seemingly been no mention of this letter at all on SSN all day.

City's transfer expenditure since the PL started.

Ignore the Mansour years. We all know what has been spent. Compare and contrast pre Mansour.

Samuel might have a decent point, lost somewhere amongst the implicit racism and the confused overall message, but it's hard to take his views seriously given that he now sports a silk scarf when appearing on Sunday Supplement; and then there's Oliver Holt's alice band...and Patrick Barclay's lording it over anyone who dares to disagree with his nonsense. These people think they are stars, which kinda discredits their opinions, to me at least. Petty, I know, but that's how I feel.

how fuckin stupid of me to not know that anyone who sports a silk scarf knows nothing
