Martin Samuel: The plot to shackle City & Chelsea

I am honestly not in the slightest bit worried about FFPR, be it either UEFA of the PL.

We are home and dried guys, too far along the road now and the plans and investments so far will ensure that within a very short space of time, financially, we will be within the elite of clubs forever.

Hot air and bluster from a worried few but when push comes to shove, fuck all and nothing will have any serious effect on us and as fans, we really shouldn't be getting our knickers in a twist over this as clubs like Arsenal et al, will very shortly say fuck it, Usmanov will get his wish and they too will pump millions in to try and join the party.

If you cant beat em, join em will be the mantra.

Bring it on!

I don't do banners but "GILL - CONFLICT OF INTEREST" would do for me.

The PL will vote on these proposals and needs two thirds of the clubs to vote for them before there is a risk of a legal challenge. Could someone help by explaining who has actually voted for the adoption of these regulations on a European scale by UEFA. Am I right in thinking only the G14 or whatever it's called these days were consulted?

Could anyone, someone, Prestwich blue or anyone else please provide an answer to my query?!

I think most of the posts reflect that and aren't concerned so much about us as opposed to what the hell is happening to the game

Karen Brady in her Sun column today has likened the gang of four to millionaires v billionaires, with it maybe heading for the courts.

We need it to go to the courts, that's the one things the likes of this mob and UEFA don't want.

Lets hope it's PSG that do it with us on the outside..

UEFA are differently constituted than the Premier League.

UEFA sets its own rules, whereas the Premier League makes any decisions based on the votes of its twenty members at the time with, as you say, two thirds (ie 14) of the votes being required for any rule change.

The G-14 doesn't exist anymore but its former members would doubtless have been consulted extensively during the development of FFP, where doubtless tacit threats of a breakaway league would have been mentioned in order to secure an arrangement which best suited their ends.

FFP wasn't just about stopping City per se imo, but about cementing the position of the clubs at the top more generally, as it started out as being about debt and morphed into something entirely different.

I actually believe that Platini started out with broadly the best intentions, but a split in the game like in darts and boxing must be his greatest fear and something that will trump all other considerations for him, when push comes to shove.

Alisher Usmanov, Joe Lewis, The Glazer family and John W Henry.

All simple millionaires just trying to get by.
