Martin Samuel: The plot to shackle City & Chelsea

If Chelski carry on as they are and look like dropping out of the top 4 they will change their minds and vote againstand its looking a dog fight for 3rd and 4th

That's what I reckon. They will miss out on Champions League revenue, and it could affect their future sponsorship deals too. There will be players who are there to play in the Champions League, and if they don't get there, they'll want away. Players wanting away will put Chelsea into the position of being a selling club. The club may wish to keep Mata and Oscar, and maybe Hazard, but if they become unsettled, they can be more trouble than they are worth, and their transfer values will drop as with Balotelli. Meanwhile, Roman will go through the expensive job of sacking his manager [again] and will only be able to recruit someone like Mourinho if he is willing to bankroll a rebuilding process, plus pay Mourinho a fatter salary than would have been demanded earlier as compensation for that manager being out of the Champions League for at least one season. All very expensive, and stuff FFP.

Good point, the team I saw yesterday don't look anywhere near us, a Europa League future won't exactly get the KGB enforcer creaming his pants.

Why would we complain about the Prem rules they could have been written by Khaldoon - who do they help most?

Club with biggest wage bill today - check
Clubs concentrating on growing non tv revenue - check
Clubs at the top of the league - check
Clubs who have already invested - check

So from city's point of view it looks good to me - for the bottom 15 sides it looks stupid from a sporting point of view

I think I love this man... from his latest Q&A:

As a Manchester United fan I respect Swansea. They are a proper club and do things the proper way. They didn't need a sugar daddy oil tycoon like Chelsea or Manchester City. Hopefully, they win the Europa League next year and push for a top-four finish. Robin Van Cantona, Manchester

Oh, please. Don’t attempt some specious kinship with Swansea as if your clubs are cut from the same cloth. United would crush Swansea and take their best players without thinking twice and you love them because they are no threat. Chelsea and Manchester City are taking you on, that’s why they need a leg up and that’s why you despise them. Swansea’s limitations are included in your post: they don’t even get to play in the same European tournament as the big boys.

Samuel just doesn't give a flying one about rags.

ask all the local businesses that the new owner shafted to put Swansea on an even keel then heel find out if they are run like a proper club

Oh, look what we have here: <a class="postlink" href="http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/archives/27571/comment-page-1#comments" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/archiv ... 1#comments</a>

Another article from our Gooner friend Tony Attwood blatantly ripped off from that wanker Herbert in The Independent and which, not surprisingly, contains wholly inaccurate facts about City (such as our wages being higher than turnover). I couldn't be arsed commenting about the stuff regarding us as other blues have pulled him up on it already so instead took him to task about his bizarre comments regarding the Pozzo family and their ownership of Watford, Udinese, and Granada.
