If clubs like United and Arsenal, with the biggest grounds and revenue streams, can limit spending to percentage of turnover, they will always have the biggest transfer pot and therefore the greatest chance of success. That is why owner investment terrifies them. Forget this guff about the health of the league. If they wanted that, the elite would be advocating some of the wealth redistribution initiatives that exist in American sport.

You want to take the blinkers off how your club is run. And you forget the role Arsenal played in the commercialisation of the Football league which led to the monopoly of the Sky 4 for 20 years.

As for class it's Arsenal fans that are effectively banning significant sections of their own working class support from following their club. I'd have thought that a fan who follows his club everywhere would be a bit sympathetic to his fellow football fan who might not be able to afford £60 for tickets. Imagine how much it would take to take a family to the Emirates from manchester. That would be the entire weekly wage for a lot of football fans
