Martinez sacked.

Martinez needs to take a year out of the game and learn the defensive side of the game. The way he abandons the defence is quite extraordinary really.

I've never understood managers getting a big job straight after relegating a team, like Martinez did at Wigan. Has it ever worked? It was the same with McLeish at Birmingham, then he was given the Villa job. There's some really clueless owners in the Premier League.

I am praying Dwight Yorke gets the Villa job.

The Everton fans are dreaming of Mourinho, they'll probably get De Boer, but I'd love it if they ended up with Rodgers.

looks like he'l be potted today,,,frank de boar to take charge

Martinez has had a pig of a season ;-).

Not really a surprise that he has been sacked, though I didn't expect it to happen until after Sunday. Maybe Kenwright "showed maturity" in making his decision after the shambolic surrender at Stadium of Light last night.

I used to really like Martinez, but his comments following Everton's two games at Etihad this season showed him up for the twat that he is. The results have got progressively worse the longer his reign has gone on. He inherited a very good defence from gollum, but has not replaced those players with others of equal quality. Stones is obviously talented, but playing him at full-back has not helped his development, IMHO.

There have been rumours that MP will be going to Goodison, but Pellers' style of attacking football is too similar to Martinez's and not what Everton need now.

I can remember Rafa calling Everton a little club during his Liverpool tenure. I can't see him going there.
If I were them I'd be all over Koeman, but I suppose that would depend on how much they are spending this summer, with their new backer, otherwise Southampton to Everton would just be deemed a sideways step at best currently.
Pellegrini, De-Boer, Moyes, Howe, Flores, and Dyche have all been linked already.

As for Martinez, I could see him rocking up at Newcastle if Rafa does leave.

That's just what the Toon needs after a relegation. They'll end up in League One if Martinez goes there!

Managers can get relegated and do a good job. Keeping Wigan up for as long as they were was impressive.

They were doing a lot better before he took over and relegated them. He also increased the goals conceded column every season he was there. Top mananger.

Seems like a "mature" decision.

Yep, Uncle Bill hasn't rushed to judgement. Very similar to 'Mr' East. Yer never get anywhere being too 'asty!

Last ten games EFC have screwed out six points out of thirty. Did Norwich, The Barcodes and Villa do that badly over the last ten? With that kind of return yer job's on the line and/or yer staring relegation in the face.
