Mary D's The Townley or another?

Went in Turks to watch v Wolves the other week. Holts bitter £8.20 for 2 pints. Went in Hare & Hounds just a few yards away after the game and the same Holts bitter £5.80 for two pints. How does that work?!!!
Turks Head is a tied Joeys pub. Their prices have been gradually going up. Hare n Hounds ain't tied. Think they just purchase the ale at agreed price. Long may it continue.

I'm probably what some of the FOCs on here would call a 'yuppie' NQ type.

I also request my local Joey Holts in Stockport. Mainly as the landlady is a massive blue :).

A very valid point on football attendances. I've sacked off all the cup/european evening games this season and am only doing league games. I used to be on all the cup schemes.

Partly to save a bit of cash, partly as getting home from the match on a weekday is an absolute joke, and I only live in Stockport.

And I point blank refuse to play the club's game of paying money to leave my bag in some locker if I have to go to a game straight from work. I'd rather tell them to get fucked and watch it on telly. Some other dickhead can have my seat.
Joey Holts………that explains a lot ;-)

I agree broadly with your political point but there are stiil some brilliant pubs in the NQ where the beer prices are ok such as the Lower Turk's Head, the Hare and Hounds, Wheatsheaf, Millstone, the English Lounge, etc etc. There are also lots of cross-over pubs were young and old alike mix. I have always done most of my drinking in Town and the buzz in Manchester city-centre has never been better in my view. I realise it is not the same in outlying areas because these days I am living in Lancashire so I see the other side of the coin as well.
Bloody hell some rough places there.

The Millstone?! Maybe if you want to hang about with piss stained crackheads doing kareoke at 11am.

The English Lounge used to do a nice Sunday roast a while back but I haven’t been in for years.

I’ve been going in malmaisson quite a bit, got sky sport, air conditioning, you can get a seat and get served quickly.
Here’s a fun and useless bit of Manchester trivia. The property company behind Malmaison is owned by the ex manager of Simply Red, who also owned the Band on the Wall music venue back in the 80s.

Rough!? Bloody hell I thought I had a sheltered upbringing!

Back on subject we must have one of the worst grounds in the league when it comes to pubs

Like many other areas, Beswick had many top pubs back in the day. Some were decent, some were R.A.F. and nearly all rag centric. The Honeycomb was a cracking local I used when dating my missus who lived in the area, it like most had gone even before City moved there. Others simply couldn't survive on matchday income alone and also folded.
