I'd wager you and everyone else will have them all back on by mid October.
that is such a dispiriting prediction mate, if so the vaccination programme will all be for nothing :-(

but for the here and now when i get back on a packed tram for the match think it will be sensible to wear a mask for a while.

but back for a gig i'm not so sure

i think us in the NHS still have to wear one while in work
someone said last week even when restrictions are dropped we still must wear one
not 100% sure
been off 3 days
back in tomorrow
i hated the thought of wearing one for 8 plus hours last feb 2020
but now confess it will feel odd for a few weeks not wearing one when/if the time comes

Israel lifted the mask mandate and then reintroduced it a week or so later.

Wearing a mask is a minimal requirement, and its benefits far outweigh the small restriction it imposes.

But the vaccination program has been a godsend, hate to think the state we would all be in without it.

I know mate, but the vaccination programme needs to be underpinned by people also still doing their bit, taking some personal responsibility for how they go about their everyday lives?

Even read today that out of 100 double vaccinated people, roughly ten can still contract Covid to the point they become ill with it because the efficacy is lower in their systems.

I just don't see why masks can't stay in place in confined spaces, public transport, simply out of respect for those who would be compromised by a lower efficacy or to avoid adding to the variant mix.

I know masks have been a big thing in the Far East for many years, to the point it is second nature to many wearing them.

So many millions still without the vaccine and yet in two weeks time it's as you were?

I will still be wearing a mask in an enclosed public space for the forseeable future

As Tolmies Hairdo says we might all be back in masks come october (hope not though as it will mean we are in the middle of another wave)

I think if enough people just show a bit of common courtesy and common sense, wearing a mask in really confined spaces, we can certainly avoid a worst case in Autumn and Winter, when the NHS are predicting a really bad flu season.

I've said before that I have a close doc friend who is literally in charge at the MRI.

His wards are back to full, was even surprised when he said the average age of the person getting ill now with it is 58.

I will continue wearing a mask in shops. I will continue to ignore pubs like the plague. I will not be going to concerts, sports venues or cinemas yet. I don’t use public transport apart from the train when I go to London for breaks, that won’t be happening this year.

I was on a train from Bristol yesterday about 6pm after the cricket.

I was the only person on the entire carriage that was wearing a mask. The carriage was about 80% full.

That was when the law mandated you wear a mask on public transport, so the idea that any decent number of people will voluntarily wear a mask seems fanciful.

The cricket itself was not much better. It was a pilot event so everyone was tested before hand or vaccinated, but adherence to the rules was probably not much above 70%.

The other issue is that you get a lot of looks for wearing a mask. It felt a bit like being the only sober person at a party.

I wasn't that bothered but I definitely can see some people feeling social pressure to take theirs off to fit in.

Mask is staying firmly on. All those that don't like it can give me a nice 2m wide berth, cheers.
As someone who won't be wearing one I have no issue if others choose to wear one, sanitise their hands constantly etc. It's a personal choice.

There are two ways of looking at it. One is keep restrictions until cases are more or less zero or getting to herd immunity as quickly as possible by vaccination and by younger, less at risk groups catching it. It clearly isn't the mass killer it was.
