Match Ball and Peter Fletcher allegedly (for legal reasons)

I admit that I haven't read all 12 pages of this thread but have read quite a few so............... where in the MEN article does it mention Mr Fletcher's name? Who says it was Mr Fletcher who involved the police? Why could it not have been Mr Fletcher who, after finding out that someone had involved the police, who said this is daft let's just get the ball back and take it no further?

Why immediately does everyone think that it is Mr Fletcher's fault? It could have been anyone in the club.

Just MHO.
It doesn't mate I said it was Fletcher as the guy at work said it was him. He knows sod all about City but knowing I'm a City fan was telling me the story. He mentioned Fletcher not me, I'm passing on what he told me, now if someone was making this up to tell me why use his name if he doesn't even know who he is? It seems I'm been berated for passing a story on even though it's now been reported in both the MEN and BBC.

No, I'm not berating anyone, I asked where in the MEN article, not what you had written. It was just a number of questions not berating anyone. If you felt it came over like that I apologise.

Fuck me, the scots took half of Wembley years ago. 40k on the wanted list. Poor lad gets a ball and gets grief. All Fletcher had to do was contact the lad offer him a signed ball in swap and it would of been back same day problem solved.

Didn't mean you pal just others on here who seem to think everyone who comes on with a controversial story about City is talking bollocks even when it's reported in papers not long after. I love City and wouldn't want to do them any harm but it seems some of their employees think this gives them carte blanche to do what they want because people who stand up to them are damaging their club when in essence it is those employees who should be brought to task.

If the police were involved and it seems from media reports that they were unless they're publishing made-up quotes from a police spokesperson, Fletcher will almost certainly have been the main man because he's the person who would deal with this issue as it broadly falls under his job description as Stadium Security & Safety Manager. I think it's fair enough of the club to ask for it back, it is history, but it's been handled badly. Could, as others mentioned, have been spun more positively as fan donates history back. A handshake, smiles, photos... The only reason I can think of why that hasn't been done is because it was taken as a result of a pitch invasion and there would have been an implied acceptance of what occurred but much better that than this!

In theory, that would be a great idea mate.

However Fletcher is the type of bloke who likes to use a sledgehammer to crack open a peanut.

If the op is true and the ball belongs to the premier league after the final whistle I would tell city to whistle for it as its not there property to ask for. If they do act like cocks and continue I'd be claiming kidnap at the point of de arrest and id put a fucking knife through the ball and cut it to pieces and send it to the premier league head quarters

Fletcher is in such shit with the club that they let him pose with the trophy...!

"i'm not sure he "stole" the ball"
my fellow bluemooner.

Hang on a minute De Niro..I got a weeks ban (check your records) for calling someone a prick...Have the rules changed?

no mate, i looked at his post count and thought he may not know our standards on here, he does now and wont get a second chance.
i move loads of shit rather than ban and if i banned you then there must have been some warnings or some previous. if not then i'm sorry.

I would keep the match ball forever and buy another from Sports Direct and give the meaningless one back to Fletcher.
