I'm going to assume there's another Steve Bruce out there who is a good football manager, because I'm sure you're not talking about ex-Sunderland rag Steve Bruce.

Pretty damning verdicts there by Shearer and Gullitt........about time indeed. I wonder what all the other so called experts who've tipped them for the title are saying now.
The new opening MOTD sequence is good.

The last time the rags lost on the opening day they won the title. Long way to go but still funny.

The last time they lost their first fixture at the swamp - 1972 - they didn't.

And one season later came Denis and relegation....here's hoping.

There's no rule that the champions have to be on first though. Their game was arguably more interesting as a talking point due to the whole Liverpool stealing Southampton's entire team sub-plot.
