As well as Foden is playing, I’d be interested to see Doku up against Cucurella for 10–15 minutes. He’s on a yellow and Doku is a bag of tricks.
Cucurella is all arms, every challenge is a push.
He’ll get away with it whether it’s against Foden or Doku.

The Akanji goal was a great example of why short corner routines are a thing. Initially, every aerial threat is being man-handled/blocked, then when the ball gets played short all the Chelsea blockers stop blocking and step up, leaving Akanji free. It’s so simple but it really does show why just whipping the ball into the mixer is not always the best decision. Teams are far more prepared for a standard whipped in corner than they are for a short one, as there’s more variety with what you can do with them.
Read some analysis of corners somewhere on the Internet that said regular corners in the EPL convert at a 3.5% rate, whereas the short corners are roughly double that. Either way, have to take a lot of corners to get a goal.
