The Akanji goal was a great example of why short corner routines are a thing. Initially, every aerial threat is being man-handled/blocked, then when the ball gets played short all the Chelsea blockers stop blocking and step up, leaving Akanji free. It’s so simple but it really does show why just whipping the ball into the mixer is not always the best decision. Teams are far more prepared for a standard whipped in corner than they are for a short one, as there’s more variety in terms of what you can do with them.

THIS. From the line-up i assumed he would be deep next to Rodri but he is pressing their goalkeeper.

We now this is how he always plays in big games so its on Pep. Need to change it at half time.
 
We just got it wrong tactically a bit, IMO, so no need to panic. We need to put Jack out wide, Phil in the middle, and maybe put Kova on for control. Doku off for Jack, Kova on for Julian.
