I think his mixture of Technique and energy is a better fit for Sarri than any of the other guys. Really it's Kante and Jorghino plus 1. And Kovacic is a better 3rd guy than Fabregas, Barkley or the Leicester dude.

He won't. Itll depend on how deep we go in champs league. If we go deep he will be rotated wisely for significant games. That's why talk of John stones rotating with him seems like madness, given if fit I would expect him to start important prem and champs league games in defence and given him and laporte are felt to be the preferred centre back pairing this season.

Kovacic would have been dumb to choose us. His whole issue was being on the bench. Why go from Real's bench to ours?

He was already at a prestigious club and wanted out. So clearly prestige is secondary to game time. And he looks a starter at Chelsea. Here he was guaranteed a bench.

I can't argue with that but I now believe John Stones will play HM in some games this year.

Stones can go from quality to great in 1 season.

Your right. I remember when he first came on the scene at 17. He was magic, precocious, similiar to foden in fact. I would play him where they intend to play Jorghinio. With Kante and one other doing his running.There he would be fine. But further up the field with responsibility to press, hes done.

I think there are reasons why Kovacic failed to win more playing time, both with Real and with the Croatian national team. IMHO he is not as good as his reputation suggests, and I am quite happy that we did not get him.
