Mateo Kovacic

Let's bring in Rebic too while we are at it.
Ship off Bravo and get a HG goalkeeper to make room.

I'm playing fantasy football I know, I just want another good right footed attacker, we've got so many lefties now.

The thing I like about Croatian footballers and
former-yugoslavian ones in general is that they have a real grit and toughness about them. They don't let themselves be pushed around and I think it makes them ideal for the premier league. Im generalising of course but for the most part I think it's true.

Just look at players like Mandukic and Mitrovic they just battle and fight for everything. mandzukic may not be the kind of player that could fit our system but by gosh I have respect for him, the work he does for his team and the sheer tenacity he plays with.

He is a big reason Bayern made 2 champs leagues finals in a row and won 1. Even though they played arguably nicer footballer after he left they lacked that element of feral fiestyness in attack.
You spend somewhere around 90% of your life playing against right footed players, left footers are good as they put most players out of their comfort zone.

Very true, but most (not all) left footed players are also notoriously 1 footed , so while they can bamboozle opponents and pull them out of their comfort zone, having too many very 1 footed players destroys the symmetry or your passing lanes and triangles.

But I do trust pep, he obviously has far more experience and success with managing all this than I do.

He's one of the most technically gifted players around but he's also quick and tenacious. He could become one of the best in the world if he refines his understanding of the game, when to pass, which pass to pick out etc, and if there's a coach in world football who can do that it's Pep.

He could help against parked buses from a 6 position simply by driving at the opposition and drawing in multiple defenders just by the fact they know he can go past 2 or 3 with ease. It's a slightly different take on the DM position to a Jorginho but it could work brilliantly. If he could then improve his passing game under Pep we'd be laughing.

I've not seen much of Kovacic (he hasn't actually had much game time for one thing) but I note that he had the best pass completion in La Liga of any Madrid player.

Also, might be more willing to share the job with Ferdy

I'd rather have Nzonzi and Kovacic if spaces allow as not convinced Kovacic will make a good replacement for Ferdy short term and Nzonzi will add some height and strength and knows the Premiership

If we're going to shoot for the moon and try to pry Kroos out of Madrid, we might as well roll the dice and see if Busquets would be willing to leave Barca.

Think they wanted someone younger. Jorghino was the perfect fit and City still recovering from the shock.

Kovacic not a target according to Sam Lee.

Barca would presumably fight tooth and nail to keep Busquets, who presumably has no wish to leave. Just wondering though if he has said he would like to play for Pep again?

I imagine that would be the only reason he would ever leave Barcelona. That said, I agree that he's almost certainly never going to leave.

That's true but it's about the right pass and sometimes passing rather than dribbling

Don't we have some agreement with Madrid not to go after their players and vice versa? Unless they're specifically selling a la Danilo.

Most right footed players are one footed too. Most footballers are.

Hopefully the rumors of them in for Milinkovic-Savic are true. Would surely help our pursuit of Kovacic.

Bit of a ludicrous notion this I think. Do we have a summat meeting with them and talk over our targets. So Madrid say ok. We are going after Hazard as he is available. And City say ok but we want Mbappe as PSG need to sell. And it’s all agreed. Maybe there is some sort of agreement not to get into bidding wars but to not go after each other’s targets suggests collusion as to each other’s targets and also that who ever says their target first gets a free run.

Basically there is no evidence it’s true.

If we're looking for an Alonso/Jorginho type player then this would be an odd signing.
