Can anyone actually tell what Maguire is meaning to do with the ball?Harry Maguire can, in the wrong net.
We could be on to something here.
Good luck proving that!

Its certainly shut plenty up,many of our own.
Maybe I am seeing a different player but Rice is not a generational talent. Bellingham on the other hand may well be in that category. This is so wrong in so many ways. Rice is way more talented and it's mostly due to his better all around skill set. Nunes' best trait is probably his ability to glide by people with deceiving pace for his size and progress the ball through dribbling. Rice literally was the best player in world football for that last season. Progressed the ball more than any other player in Europe. So Rice is better than Nunes at what Nunes does best. Essentially all other categories Rice is superior too. Rice and Bellingham are 2 leagues ahead of any other midfield target we've had this window once they were sold.
Just because we didn't sign Rice, doesn't mean we need to be silly and pretend Matheus Nunes is better. Generational talent vs a good utility/squad player. Would still love Nunes but c'mon.
Never knowingly undersold for sure :-) Seriously friend, ball carrying from midfield is a function of Gollum's gameplan, just not comparable with forwards breaking on the counter attack like Vinicius and only 100m more than am obscure 15m euro squaddie at PSG is just not a convincing stat - more critical thinking required. Rice is a really good player but you overrate his impact in terms of match results. His record simply doesn't justify such an enormous price tag but that's the English market premium. My only other comment is that the word 'generational' should be used with caution - also "unstoppable" "unplayable" "best version" "world class" "elite level" etc - usually meaningless commentary hype.I said Declan Rice was the best player in world football at progressing the ball forward via dribbling last season. Not that he's the best player in world football, obviously. He literally carried the ball further than any other player. That is not opinion but fact. As seen here:

The 2 leagues above comment is obviously exaggerated but I mean in terms of catergories of talent. We've got the generational midfield talents that are Rice, Jude, Pedri and maybe FDJ. Then world class players that have the potential to reach the top few in the world. This league is close to the best, but a step below. And then the rest. Special in certain areas and when used right are world class, but requiring a system that helps them succeed to truly flourish. I.E Paqueta, Nunes, Eze, etc.
Which so happens to explain why City targeted Jude and Rice first, before settling down the list. Still class players but could be better.

Fair point. Can anyone actually tell what Maguire is meaning to do with the ball?

You are 100% correct with that statement. Nunes will be great in the role Pep puts him in. That's what makes Pep so special. He gets the best out of the lads.Maybe I am seeing a different player but Rice is not a generational talent. Bellingham on the other hand may well be in that category.
The value of Nunes to City is probably wrapped up in whatever plan Pep has in mind for him. Comparing him to Rice may not be useful in such a context.
Wait until he starts working with Pep, most players improve under the master's tutelage.I don't get all the hype about Nunes, yes he's a good honest midfielder nothing more nothing less, he wont make us any better than what we are. He wont improve us that much going off those video clips ive seen, we'll be no different with or without him. If Phillips got his act together he'd on par with him.
IN MY OPINION
What a list of attributes but chose to stay in London with a club who will win nothing. You are 100% correct with that statement. Nunes will be great in the role Pep puts him in. That's what makes Pep so special. He gets the best out of the lads.
And to your first point. Fair enough. I'm not trying to ride Rice's meat but what I will say, is pay extra attention to him in Arsenals matches this year. You will see he has no weakness. Possesses far more qualities than a traditional #6. Leader. Can invert in CB. Can play the 8. Press proof. Line breaking dribbler and passer. Top level control. Can crunch a man in the tackle. Recovery speed is also top notch. Reads the game with the best of em. He can do everything you would want if you created a number 6 at an elite level. But yeah, keep an eye on him this season and decide for yourself. He is an analytical darling for the data diggers which is what inspired me to take a deep dive into him as a player. So so good.
Tolmie is Danny Mills, but ssh it’s a secret ; )I wonder where Tolmie gets his information from and how good it is ?
PTSD ? Are they from Eindhoven ?It's not his fault, he's been playing with PTSD after his run in with the Albanian gangsters!
I kind of had that opinion with gundogI don't get all the hype about Nunes, yes he's a good honest midfielder nothing more nothing less, he wont make us any better than what we are. I mean Arsenal's project is pretty good. Behind City, Madrid, and Barcelona, what other club would you want to join? What a list of attributes but chose to stay in London with a club who will win nothing.
To be fair, Gündogan was a key player for years in one of the 8 best teams in Europe (at the time), a Dortmund side that had won the Bundesliga and got to a CL final. Nunes comes from a mediocre (not bad) season in Wolves, which is his only season in any of the 5 big leagues, after just 1 season as a regular starter in Portugal. Not sure there is much of a comparison except they both play in midfield.I kind of had that opinion with gundog
I wasn’t sure what he brought to the team
In fact there was a period of time I thought he was our worst player.
But bloody hell what a good player he turned out to be. Not flashy but just a good solid reliable performer who could play in multiple positions
His football intelligence stood out. I think that’s why pep wanted him and I kind of think that’s why he wants this fella
Of course! He’s now PortugueseIs Gundogan coming back to City ?
Ahh yes and goes by the new name of Nunes ;-)Of course! He’s now Portuguese
