It’s a little cringeworthy the way some treat players from Portugal/Portuguese teams here, like little gems that only we can discover. “We’ve done so well with them, haven’t we!”, mixed with the “looks like a typical City signing” bizarre shouts. Ugh… And look, this guy was born in my country lol

The guy we need is Aurelien Tchouameni. Having watched a few matches & several clips, he's the one. He's 21, valued around €70m & has played for France 8 times already. This kid's got the lot & wouldn't just be a Rodri backup, he'd be solid competition.

If we got him, we'd have two of the top ten CDM's in world football imo, both with years ahead of them.

He has stalled in his development. Yes still very young, but you’d think that hype would have taken him elsewhere. Maybe there’s an attitude issue there. There are other Lyon players I’d rather have…

I don’t think it’s attitude. He’s a quiet, unassuming lad, very grounded in the city, and is rarely out of the team. Lyon have apparently made it known that he’ll be leaving this summer.

It’s not reliable, it’s recycled all from the echo chamber of Portuguese media, and it doesn’t say we have signed him either to be fair

Im with you and hoping we dont sign this guy if he really isnt all that.we are at that stage when we need to be signing players that will improve us or at least keep the level it is already at.

Out of interest, what sort of player is he if you’ve watched him? Would he be a direct replacement to Fernandinho?

No, not at all, that’s why it’s baffling to me that anyone would think he could take on that role. For the player he is we are not in need unless someone leaves and if that player leaves, trust me, we would be looking for a much higher profile replacement considering their importance.

Something people need to understand is that football in Portugal this season is basically over. There is nothing else to be decided. They know who won the league and no Portuguese team is in an European final. Benfica are playing their final game of the season now, Sporting plays tomorrow at this same hour. So the rumour mill has just started, and it’s all pushed by agents and clubs or straight up made up because they need to fill pages in papers and sites and shows on tv and radio.

Also important to mention that this is only the first year of Nunes’ current contract
