Matija Nastasic

I like Nastasic, and am surprised that he dropped so far down the pecking order. Something has obviously happened behind the scenes, but it's absurd that Boyata is making the bench ahead of him. To suggest that he's the answer to our problems is even more absurd though.

bit more on last season from nastasic

with
1659mins played 17 goals conceded goal every 97.58min

without nastasic

3501 mins played 41 goals conceded goal every 85.39 min

its not a question if he's the answer to are problems, its a question if he's a better option then the current defenders we have playing

It's the same old shit.

Player doesn't want to leave and wants to fight for his place, yet club wants to sell and doesn't want to give a player a (second) chance, so player is left in limbo.

Guessing. I'm 100% sure Nastasic would have produced a decent defensive performance tonight. Yet internal politics at City decide otherwise.

To put it simply; if that's a question, then the answer is obviously no for me.

I am genuinely shocked how people forgot how Matija did under Pellegrini. He was completely lost in our defence almost everytime he played, he just does not fit into the system Pellegrini implemented. I'm quite sad for him though, he should be already playing elsewhere (maybe in Italy again).

Rekik and lopes will be back next summer...the other 2 aren't good enough...deluded if you think otherwise!
You're deluded if you think Nastasić isn't good enough.
It really is bizarre. I see people on here eulogising about how good the likes of Denayer and Rekik will be, and they're playing for PSV and Celtic. Yet Nastasic, when he was 19, was playing for us in the Champions League and FA Cup final, and was arguably one of our players of the season that year.[/quote
I've never claimed to be much of a scout but I basically agree with this. He was a legitimate partner for Komps 24 months ago. Our defense isn't exactly impenetrable now. No idea what happened.

That aside, he's good enough to be given a second chance. At what point did he become so bad that he would never wear a City shirt again?

Unless there is something going on behind the scenes, why hasn't he been included in the PL squad at least? With his only role at City picking his fav 11on the OS. http://www.mcfc.co.uk/?NoMobileRedirect=true

again I think this is abit of a myth, the whole defence looked lost at the start of the pellegrini era(as they do now) the stats show we went longer without conceding a goal with nastasic in the team

It's a shame he's out in the cold. He is a promising young player who hasn't had a proper chance under Pellegrini. Disappointed with Pellegrini for doing this to him, didn't seem like the type of manager to do that sort of thing.

He hasn't fully recovered from the collective fuck up at Chelsea and for some reason Pellegrini isn't too keen on his attitude.
