May to send 150 troops to Poland.

Apart from the Crimea, which Russia did have some claim to, the pro-Russian insurgents started it/wanted to be ruled by Russia (Falklands?) and people have suggested the US were looking to build a military base there (if the case, I don't think you can blame Russia for taking it considering it's strategic position) - where is the Russian aggression to warrant NATO/EU lining these border countries with troops?
I seem to recall Khrushchev actually gave away the Crimea to Ukraine in 1954 (probably when he was pissed) and the legality of the transfer has always been disputed. At the time I don't suppose they ever imagined that Ukraine would become a separate sovereign nation.

Quite apart from being laughable on every level, this sends a dangerous signal. Many knock Putin but he is quite right about the West and expansionism. Moving forces into former Eastern Block countries and the Baltic states would not be tolerated if the boot were on the other foot, yet Putin is expected to swallow it. We really are pushing our luck.

Yep. Our PM has promised Polands PM we will send 150 troops to Poland to shore up their defence against Russian aggression and show our commitment after Brexit. Phew, I bet Putins shitting himself.
I've just taken a bucket of water out of the season to reduce sea level rising.

You're welcome.

He's also right about Syria. Instead of arming every rag, tag and bobtail anti-Assad group, we should have ensured that the legitimate government retained control of the whole country. Then we could have pressured Assad to step down.

Instead we failed to learn the lessons of even the recent past and ended up creating a seemingly insoluble political and military crisis which has led to a humanitarian disaster, waves of refugees and a political lurch to the right in Europe.

That's because if he did he would be an unwelcome invading army again.
