I still don't really understand what's gone on here but the news that Tevez is staying and NOT getting an improved contract is a huge coup for the club. It shows that we aren't going to be taken for a ride by players and that people will only leave when it suits us.

Players and agents will think twice before pissing around with us anymore

I would guess that we've agreed if the summer comes around and he's still of a mind to leave, we'll grant it to him without drama.

In the meantime, it will remain a secret to help the club.

For me, it is clear we have "done a Ronaldo". We'll have agreed to let him leave in the summer. By playing it out in this fashion, we avoid some of the distracting, negative press that would have come our way, meaning we can focus on football. It's about the best we could have hoped for really. I don't think he wants to be here, but at least it's no longer common knowledge that this is the case.
