MCFC Stewards - agressive bullying tactics

Bit of a long winded tale but bear with it..

After last nights game I along with a couple of other st holders usually walk a half turn of the ground 'inside' in order to exit at the other side of the police barrier (near the mercedes garage), we normally do this as it is a little faster than exiting the ground at the K1/K2 entrance. Whilst attempting to do this I was confronted by a steward who blocked my path and was quite agressive and confrontational, he stepped up to me with his arms out in a 'no getting past' jesture which I found overtly agressive and quite intimidating and told me I was not getting past him and that I need to take the nearest exit. Now, I'm not aware of any ground rules that state this nor do I think I was breaking any other club rules so I argued the issue with him at which point he (inevitably) asked for my season ticket number, at this juncture making me out to be the agressor because I hadn't immidiately acquiesced to his 'commands'. Consequently he recruited others colleagues and before I knew it I was being followed out of the ground by about half a dozen stewards arguing as we went.

Does anybody know if I have broken any rules, if so, which ones?

If I haven't I would like to hear from any of the stewards on why you are so agressive towards home supporters and why you use such bullying tactics.

I will be taking this up with the club because it pretty much ruined the game for me and I'm still quite angry about how I was treated, more so if it turns out no rules were broken.

I would also like to remind fans and stewards that common assualt charges can be brought even if there is no physical contact, the threat or percieved threat of an imminent assault is enough for charges to be brought....

I go in at T which is half way round the ground from where I come - up JMWay, past the main entrance. On the way out I go all the way back along the CBL3 concourse and exit from the last exit available. One reason I don't like going on L2. I like sitting in the same area and L2 has the 'nobby' block and yer can't get right along on the concourse at L2. Never had a problem with stewards and there are very few fans going against the flow but I find it much easier to do that than fight me way against thousands going to Ashton Road on the outside.

There are some stewards who come on BlueMoon. How about defending this shitty, pointless, I'm-in-charge-and-you have to kow-tow approach to stewarding? Is it the buy-ins or MCFC's own who are responsible? I'm sure that there are some folk would like to work in a concentration camp or a gulag but failing an available and vacant situation in those areas they settle for stewarding mass crowds. I would finish by saying that the stewards on CBL3 that I come into contact with are everything you would want a steward to be. Well done guys!

Don't know about that but while on the subject of stewards, they seemed to grow a pair last night in relation to the vermin smokers in the toilets....... i must of seen 10/15 people thrown out at half time which was more than entertaining.

Big well done to the stewards

Last night crossing the road down Jo Mercer way, the stewards stepped out to stop us as they always do for about a minute to let cars have their turn and this moron next to me says he's not having this sh*t so physically forces his way thru the stewards with what was very nearly assault, walks across road then stops and waits for his mates! That's the kind of moron that is all too prevelent these days at the ground.

DenisLawBackHeel74, follow it up with Danny Wislon, don't let it rest.

I used to do that all the time when I was in that stand, in the CB now so not an issue. However, I have noticed that there do seem to be quite a few 'butsh' stewarsd in and around the concourse at full time.

Perhaps the stewards would be a little less like jobsworths if they were allocated with a stewards number (as PC's do) which we could not down and use to identify the culprits in mind.

Its not beyond City to instigate this and it may cause a steward to think before getting shirty or heavy.

Anyone else think that would help?

Yeah, sounds like Trigger ;-)

I'm sure that all City stewards (yellow and orange jackets) have numbers on their coats.

I do exactly the same from block 107. I saw someone with the stewards in the family stand - I guess this was you then! It's ridiculous, by the time I was aroudn that area, the concourse is pretty much empty, so why is it such an issue.

I will, if only to highlight it should it happen again.

I think thats a good call, a little training in how to deal with 'customers' wouldn't go amiss either.

from my experience the city stewards are ok, its some of the showsec private security firm that can be aggressive, was it a city steward or a showsec guy?

Not trying to have a go mate but, don't you think that bringing an assault charge to a guy standing in front of you holding his arms would be considered a bit much?
