Let me give you an example of safety relating to this incident - part of the stewards job is checking for lost property in his area,if you have fans from other parts of the ground walking around then this could be deemed a security risk,as we have to protect our areas and check they are safe before we finish our shift.
What is to stop somebody walking round the ground looking for lost phone, items of clothing and picking them up and going home with them ?
As stewards we are there to protect all supporters and we can only do that properly if we have a clear and empty area.
If you worked in an office block would you walk round the other parts of the building before leaving work to come out at a better exit for you or would this be considered strange behaviour ?
All I am trying to do is make you aware of the clubs perspective in dealing with crowd control and steps they have to carry out to ensure everybodys safety in the overall scheme of things,I can assure you it is not about being awkward. We are trained to be pleasant at all times and as in all walks of life there has to be ground rules laid down for all...

I think the opposite. Accidents happen when things get left alone and no one questions things like this. Stewards are not paid to ACT UP either. They are paid to act professionally and do a job. If they don't want to do that then they should be looking elsewhere for work.
Most Stewards are brilliant. Its just the odd ones who make bad decisions or decide to do nothing when they SHOULD do something. Common sense should always prevail.
Showsec supervisors seem to be the worst culprits for bullying.

Last night I saw another steward pick up a bag that clearly has a City shirt or scarf or some item of clothing in it. He picked it up looked inside and walked off with it. So what happens with that Trigger or Wembley76 ? Is that logged int he lsot property and there today for the owner to claim. Great if it is, shows the stewarding works and I only witnessed one bad example in the past. Maybe you could check it was logged and handed in last night. I can give you the block number and roughly which row if you want.
I'm not having a go at stewards in general, 99% can be brill but 1% can be bad. But my stance when finding things is that I will personally ensure they are returned to the owner. At City I have done that with a leather jacket, a mobile phone and a city bag of stuff. Would I have trusted that particular steward with any of those, sorry not on your life !

An incident card should be filled in and handed to our supervisor, in the past I have done this for spectacles and keys. If you want to give me a PM with the details I will check for you.
I will only say that if you have a problem with a steward, take his number and ensure you report all the facts, at our briefings we have many emails giving feedback on our behaviour, believe it or not we have far more thanking us for our assistance.
Just a side note and not looking in anyway for a pat on the back as I would have done this for any blue, but on Saturday two irish season ticket holders in 107 at the chelsea game who I have got to know and talk to asked where the nearest Truckstop was to COM's. They were coming over for last nights game whilst delivering in Middlesbro and driving 40' vehicle, they normally fly to the ground.
They parked up in Trafford Park, they asked where they could get a taxi from outside the ground back to Trafford Park, I told them I would give them a lift as it wasn't too far out of my way.
They accepted and were thankful, and I was only too pleased to have assisted blues.
It is too easy in life to be negative as can be seen on many many a thread on here, and yes I know there are bad apples in every job, but the vast majority of our stewards are excellent and if their are bad ones I want them outed as well as you, but please remember that perception is a wonderful thing and just because you don't agree with what they may do in a particular instance doesn't make them a bad steward or in the wrong as they may well be doing what they have been told to do or trained to do.
