Media bias against City

I was fannying about on Wikipedia this morning, and stupidly followed a link to the list of the most expensive football transfers, and was amazed (not) to see that the City players making the list are quoted with all the add-ons, while the rag martial is not... The fee shown for De Bruyne is quite funny (£54-58million), as none of the references used have any mention of the higher number, and of course, he is ranked based on the higher number!

OK, I know it's only Wikipedia, and any idiot can go in to edit the list, but it just shows how effectively the incessant lies in the media can become "the facts".

You're wrong here I think, about the listings. The list is in order by Euro value at the time of transfer, not £. Rating 75-80M above 75M looks fine to me.

You can click on the arrows at the top of the £ column if it makes you feel better!

If Arsenal end up in the Europa tonight watch the media spin the Europa as a better more competitive competition than Champs league
No they won't. It would make it a very interesting competition from an English perspective though and rightly it would be given more emphasis that usually is the case. I for one hope that given this co-efficient business, all these clubs rags included, go deep into the competition.

Ah, but TurtleHead sez their group was just a stinker. A veritable group of impending doom.

ToryGraph this morning offers us a miserly 240 column inches on MANUre's route to the Europa League whilst, topping the group for the first time, we are treated to a staggering 40 column inches!
Hey their exit is the bigger story particularly given the increasingly fragile position of Turtle Head and the potential consequences for him of this failure. In the general scheme of things a lot of people on here just don't seem to be able to grasp that we will always be perceived as gatecrashers by the media and as such will tend to have success treated with distain or indifference and failure magnified out of all proportion. My advice is to chill out and let them get on with their miserable existences!!!

Whilst it's annoying that they get more coverage I think in this situation it's justified. The Rags getting knocked out of an easy group they would've walked under Sir Baconface is a bigger story than us topping a group that we should realistically expect to win given our resources.

know they enemy my friend, know thy enemy. And to be fair Martin Samuel is one of the better sports writers out there.

Quite. Mrs Ewing has a subscription to the DT. I can throw the sports section into the recycling bin depending on the front page or the tenor of the odd article inside. I have an inbuilt bullshine detector that can sniff out RagDipperPuffery as the delivery drops through the front door. But you need to know where the shitehawks are coming from, going to, and what warped conclusions they arrive at!

The more written about their fucking awful showings the better for me. Fill the back, inside and front pages with tales of woe and we'll just carry on regardless.

mail online today has 5 or 6 stories about lvg and utd last night, some rugby union story, a story about fury the boxer, another story about sturridge, and a preview of the chelsea and arsenal matches.
not a word about city topping the group of death.

A great achievement in topping the group of death but we'd qualified weeks ago. The real big news last night was the rags losing and going out of a piss easy group. If Arsenal and Chelsea also go out the focus will be on English clubs failure in Europe and the possible lose of the fourth CL spot. There is media bias against us, of course there is, but the story is more the general ineptness of PL teams in this competition in recent seasons.

And they will, of course blame that on us for not winning it every year because of course you can just chuck money at these things.

To me we've made a little bit of progress each year and winning the group continues that trend even if we fail in the next round.

I cannot understand the BT coverage of us. It does not make sense. The only people watching our match last night are likely to be City fans. Why piss us off with the negative shite we had to put up with.

Try reading the Guardian write up by Jamie Jackson. It ends at the 65 th minute.

A typical Jackson effort, sadly. You can feel the bitterness oozing out at having to amend his pre-written rubbish. The detailed notes on the goals are his usual level of insight. Mind you, if you want him at his height, dig out the Roma-City report from last year. It's one for the ages.

It can be said enough, Jamie Jackson is a cockroach. A bottom feeder, a slug, a sneering two bob hack who manages to drag his already maligned profession further into the gutter every time he writes an article.

You only have to read some of the twitter exchanges between some of these cunts to realise the agenda and hatred is real.

Why would the De Bruyne fee be listed as €75-80m? It's €75m, and so the same as the two players below. If the list is about including all the possible add-ons or listing a range, then martial is €75m or €48-75m.

Oh, Martial's may be badly entered, certainly, but the order is correct based on the fees entered. Apologies if I wasn't clear.

That fees are inconsistently entered is likely. Strangely the "-80" has disappeared since earlier today.

Even more curious is that the commentator Guy Mobray is a self confessed blue.

When the draw was made it was all about how tough the group of death was, Borussia were on the rise, Juventus were last seasons beaten finalists and Sevilla, Europa league winners. It would be an almighty achievement to get out of the group. I listened to Brazil's show this morning, and yes we got mentioned but I didn't hear anyone giving us too much praise.
