No mention of the city youngsters winning a trophy tonight in the mail, if that had been the rags or Chelsea kids it would have been the main story tonight.

I don't think it would though, really. Regardless of who won it, it's just not that big a story.

Any talk of an agenda should be focussed purely on FFP, because that is where the true conspiracy lies. Perceived slights in the press on relatively innocuous matters cheapen the argument. Many of the complaints in this thread smack of paranoia and pettiness. We're in danger, as fans, of losing sight of the real target of our ire - namely FFP.

agree with this.

however. the media only highlight negatives about our club. when there is any form of success it rarely, if at all gets a mention. positivity breeds interest, interest breeds new fan base and the buying of merchandise and attracts ad revenue to our club. which in turn can affect our ability to overcome ffp issues.

Is it possible that the media bias will gradually change in the same way that FFP is now seen to be affecting more clubs than City and PSG ?

This

I really couldn't give a flying fuck what others think of us as it only reinforces the fear thry feel. Between 1982 - 2008 we've been mostly shit & all we were was a laughing stock, but did that stop the media & others ridiculing us as if we were the local Village idiots?

I'd rather the 'agenda' than ridicule any day. We should not allow ourselves to be distracted from the real agenda of FFP & its here where we should concentrate our anger, fire & efforts.
Oh give over, that's why we have the ffp thread. I love this thread, nowt wrong with a bit of Dunkirk spirit, us versus the rest of the world. It's interesting to see how we are perceived by various media. Is it an agenda or just paranoia? I don't know, most probably a bit of both, what I do know though is this thread is great.
.. Tin hat back on....

I haven't seen much evidence this season of the media changing, in anything we now seem to be ignored, most football articles are mostly click bait for the rags, dippers and the arse masses.

The rag hacks in the media know exactly what they are doing.

The media are there to sell news and will never allow the truth or facts to stand in the way of a good story. Intelligent people know the truth even if they choose to not to overtly acknowledge it. Alas we're in the grip of a reality TV boom where vast swathes of the nation prefer fabricated entertainment to factual news.

Bad Manchester City sells, good Manchester City still sells but with the spin that we're using soveriegn oil potrol dollars to financially dope the EPL & CL which in turn makes a negative out of a positive.

TBH, I've got more important things to be arsed about like our disappointing season rather than getting hot & bothered over make-believe press ramblings. Those who want the truth will always find it, just like those who want to find make-believe to underpin the reasons for their fear and loathing of us.

As Ric quite correctly pointed out FFP is fhe real agenda against us and this is where all of us to a man, woman and child should concentrate our fire. Could you just imagine the outcry if a poor developing country like Haiti found vast oil reserves and the UN (UEFA) backed by OPEC (G14) & the USA (ManUre) threatened them with sanctions if they invested the revenue on buying their way out of poverty and into prosperity as it was unfair on other properous countries who'd created their wealth organically over centuries?

This is the real agenda against us.

Can you get this analogy into the press? I like it

You only have to look at the nominations for the recent Player of the Year awards. The media have gushed about Hazard (worthy winner), Costa, Coutinho and Kane but Sergio is only mentioned after the event with headlines asking why he wasn't nominated. The players who do the nominating, form their opinions through the distorting lens of the media as well as playing against the nominees.

The bottom line is, if we are doing well then we're ignored but if there's controversy or we lose a couple of games then it's a negative headline and opinion wank fest.

Lets see what the Football Writers do
They should chose Sergio but will probably pick Terry the spiv or Eeedin Azzzzerd

I seem to recall that our every movement was previously delivered with venomous gusto by the press generally. Some do not do that now, some do, but as you say we are sometimes ignored.
This is the change I refer to which may still be not perfect but what is ?.

Fucking hell, even by the clowns on Soccer Saturdays standards, this has been impressively shit. Apparently Spurs battered us and David Silva was a violent thug who was lucky to stay on the pitch, showing the fustration of our season and our lack of quality. YCNMIU
