Media Bias

The media don't like us and that's for certain. We're not yet considered a glamour club and so they always are happy to knock us down, it's jelousy pure and simple. Think about it, the sports journalists are football fans usually. As such they don't like the way we can spend our money and so would secretly love to see us fail so their teams have a chance. Sure they write about us and don't make it obvious but there's always a hint of bitterness with their little digs hidden away. The Tevez situation was blown out of proportion with them hounding him and Mancini as well as exagerating the scenario to cause more trouble. I imagine that could have been resolved much quicker without their stirring but journalists have no morals and love to inflame tricky situations to make them look worse.

As long as this goes on we know that we're being successful, when it stops it's time to worry. A rag I know (and seriously, he's from Norwich :)) complained that we get more paper coverage than Manure now, so every cloud eh.

I never think much of a so called agenda but today on Sky Sports after Cashley had withdrawn through Injury they showed a list of England players who were unavailable.

Included was Rooney,Parker,Cashley,Carroll,Smalling and Phil Jones.

No mention of Gareth Barry.

Have you noticed that they never query the scums injuries either when everyone knows that bacon face is lying bout them?

We come from behind to beat Southampton and the media says the cracks are showing, City are lucky, suspect defence etc. United come from behind to beat Southampton and the press big them (and RVP) up like they're world beaters all of a sudden. Will it ever end ?

It wont change they will always be having a dig but when we win more it will feel o so sweet and where will they be then??

It's just lazy reporting. Everything has to fit into a simple archetype. When a team/player/coach win multiple championships the media tends to put them on a pedestal. Once they have earned the greatness label they be critical of them because that would undo everything great they've ever done. Scottish Jesus, AKA Fergie clearly walks on water so he can't be criticized under any circumstances. Cause that would be like criticizing God and God can't be wrong. This why why the experts went on and on how City choked away the 5 point lead yada yada yada. But then never criticized United for choking away an 8 point lead, while still going on about the 5 point lead City choked away.

I support the Detroit Red Wings hockey team and they had a superstar player named Steve Yserman who was the captain for about 20 years. He was one of the best players in the world for years and led the team from the bottom of the league to top regular season club year in year out but the team was consistently loosing in the first round of the playoffs. So obviously him being the captain the media brand ed him a choker. A few years later he was able to lead the club to 3 championships and the same media that was calling him a choker had now labeled him the greatest leader in sports and gave him the nickname "The Captain".

Once City has won a couple more championships we'll see these same types of stories.

No doubt there is an agenda to put down City, the media have been unhappy at the success weve started to have and ruining their blessed "top 4 " reference.

It doesn't just stop at the media, why did Mancini not win the EPL manager of the year award? He will be the first one not to when winning the EPL title for the fist time, Mourinho won it twice so they can't use the money as a reason. He only won one manger of the month award too!

It aint going away untill we continue to win year on year and dispell the "typical City" tag which i think we've on our way to do. Anyhow winning against the odds makes victory all the sweeter.

Just to back that point up, there were a couple of journalists on TS at the back end of last season and when asked who'd get the Manager of the Year, both stated that it was a close run thing between Mancini and Pardew. The criteria they gave was that if we won the league and Pardew attained a CL place then it would be close run, if we didn't win the league then it would most certainly be Pardew, regardless.

With hindsight, it seems that whatever we did Mancini was not getting the accolade and my personal opinion is that if United had won the league then there would only be one man in the frame, to go with his 20th in the 20th year of the Prem.

Amazing how we didn't hear more of that, the 20th year. When United were topping it there was much mention of this 20th thing, and then, nothing.
