That's why the league title is the best barometer for deciding who is the best team.

Liverpool and Tottenham both fine sides unquestionably, who both had luck on their sides at times to get to the final.
There's lots of people (esp the media)who are desperate for Liverpool to be rewarded for their exploits this season.

Hope fate is still Liverpool's cruel mistress.
:)

Fate had nothing to do with them challenging for the league.

Idiot.

Khaldoon was obviously talking about City never holding the European/World record transfer... Ronaldo like money which is the relevance to a La Liga rep being a hypocrite(his comprehension skills are shite for a journalist). Yes we approached Kaka but thankfully it didn't happen so what are you talking about Castles?

The Robinho transfer was only a British transfer record which broke the existing record(£30m) by £2m set 2 years earlier(Shevchenko Chelsea) Liverpool paid £3m more than that for Andy Carroll(£35m) 2 years and 4 months later but he won't mention that.

Then he goes on about individual positions:

Ederson was not a world record transfer for a goalkeeper(Buffon held that from 2002) but a British one for one single season(£36m), Pickford cost Everton £25.65m in the same window. Alisson beat the world record and smashed the British one by £20m(£56m). If anything Alisson's fee made way for Kepa's by breaking it so significantly.

CBs

The increase for our CBs was not a massive leap on what came before, look at Ferdinand's fee, is that correct? Shocking if true, all the way back then...

With the sidebacks there is more of a case for we increased the record significantly but we needed quality and experience in a specialised role. Those types of players were never going to come cheap. If anyone tries to do the same they will easily break both records(lb or rb). We paid market price on both.

The argument was about inflation being blamed on the the wrong people, City have proven to have gotten much better at spending well because the teams value is worth more than what we paid for it. You can't make a case we are paying over the odds anymore, not by a long shot.

He's also referencing them as Abu Dhabi funded buys, our press become more pathetic and desperate by the day, they are cracking up.

I was waiting for a response to the interview, not surprised this is the best he could come up with because Khaldoon was measured and accurate... unlike their own work.

Has Steve Daley been used as part of his argument yet?

Just feel sorry for Tottenham in what is the finest night of their history and a huge achievement to possibly be Champions of Europe, spending half as much as Liverpool in the past 4 seasons, yet the media are still just tugging Klopp off 24/7 talking about 3 Euro finals in a row (how many has he won again?) and 6 times la.

I think Chelsea are mugs for getting rid of Sarri. His Napoli side was superb. This year the media have done everything they can to undermine Sarri, culminating in the fake news story about him losing his temper in training (since rebutted). He has been treated just like Mancini was at City. He's a bit of an eccentric and has upset some of the parasites in the sports press. Time will tell but I think appointing media darling Lampard would be a big mistake for Chelsea. Some of their fans are smart enough to know this but that's not the media narrative.
Sarri’s Napoli weren’t that good, they failed to qualify from our Champions League group and bottled it late in the season for the League. Sarri a stubborn fucker with only one way of playing and his lack of adaptability and squad rotation would mean never winning the League in England with Chelsea whilst being involved in Cup competitions. He might just miss out on the League at Juve, Inter will be splashing the cash and with Champions League football they may well attract enough quality players to challenge for the title.

If Spurs do win we'll need to brace ourselves for a few days of back pages about our finances no doubt.
