That would certainly be news, but I'm not sure there is much better than the current situation, based on where we are - look at cricket which is totally controlled by the biggest three, and rugby union where the English clubs are constantly bleating for more.

I don't think UEFA are under control of G14. I just think they are being pressured by constant demands - clubs and broadcasters - and haven't found a way out of it yet. It's not quite the same thing. Influenced, yes; controlled, no.

As for blowing footie wide open, integrity is a big thing, now I know nobody is 100% clean but if it's shown as we suspect UEFA have been under the control of G14 or even just corrupted beyond repair a new governing body would indeed blow footie apart.

The underlying reason may for the whole pursuit maybe the actions of a small cartel of clubs, but CAS are unlikely to expose that. Given City's club statement that was made some time ago now, it looks like City are pursuing not FFP itself, but the regulatory process.
