Media coverage 2018/19

I shouldn't be surprised but the lack of media scrutiny of the Matthew Hedges story is appalling. Apparently he was "carrying our research into security issues" in the United Arab Emirates but is just a PHD student. Sounds about as plausible as the Russian tourists who visited Salisbury.

Come on Sebastian there is very little in that article which is negative with the main theme being how fantastic our team is, how better we are than everybody else and with us having the potential to dominate for years to come the race for the league would become boring (which it would).

I think the only narrative prism here is shoehorning every article into an atack on City.
He claims it was boring when the likes of United and Liverpool dominated, unfortunately clowns like him failed to mention it at the time, in fact it was and still is completely different when they reminisce how wonderful those teams were. If you actually believe his claim any future City success could be responsible for the sky four leaving for a European super league, then I don't know just what it would take for you to find an article negative.

Yeh, I’m with you Frank, there’s not a lot in there to get upset about. The only issue is the potential for the wider narrative....

Incidentally Exeter was going to post yesterday about your comments re:ownership etc.

I understood what you were saying but I think its best to enjoy the team and football separate from politics and even the wider business of football. Both are dark murky worlds and both as fans we can do little about and if you delved too much it can only impact your enjoyment.

Some fans want to kid themselves that everyone is corrupt, influencing decisions in their favour and yet City are following some virtuous path to protect the interests of the game from the cartel clubs, where the reality is we will similarly be protecting our own interests. Thats why for me you have to separate the two.

City for me will always be the lifetime memories forged stood watching them rather than the wider interests of football I feel competely detached from. If I didn’t I would probably view football as a whole very differently.

He actually suggested if City were not challenged City may seek challenges elsewhere to provide competitive rivalry and others could follow. Unless you think were one of the sky four whatever that is? Let me guess you think Sky are biased against us?

I do not agree that will be the case but if anything he is justifying why we would move on based on finding a competitive challenge.

Does anybody know if ducker and ladyman and Ogden and Herbert have been at the pre/post match conferences? Be interesting if they've been back since their hatchet job on us with the der Spiegel bollocks.

It's just an extension of the City ruining football narrative.

Nothing to get too bothered about but we shouldn't kid ourselves that the point of that article was to praise City.

I misread the bit about City leaving but I doubt he was to concerned about us doing one. In fact it was more along the line of us taking others with us if we decided the competition wasn't strong enough. It seems we are being blamed for doing what all clubs want to be...successful.

Again I am not sure has he blamed us? It would become boring for others if we won it every year for neutrals just like we all think the race in the Bundeliga is boring.

Anyways lets hope we enjoy this dominance and have this problem to worry about. I think you have ignored the paragraphs of platitudes about the team and misinterpreted a slight but its all about opinions, so fair enough and thanks for the reply.

The never ending story....

This is utter tosh! to critique it is to give it credibility it doesn't deserve.
