Surely it’s the opposite of that? City are aiming for four trophies and Madrid are scrapping to try and qualify for the CL in a weaker league. Fuck off sky.
Agreed — that’s actually the reason I included that quote from the article (beyond just their ‘setup’ paragraph), as I thought it best demonstrated the lack of inteilectual rigour in that write up and commonplace in their general coverage (for those that did not want to give them a click to read the full article).

Pathetic, a genuine kids team against mostly men, and they played pretty well, bossing possession in the game, and they kept going right to the end, after a second half wonder strike effectively finished the game.

Says everything about the pettiness that runs through the shithouse of an organisation.

They keep tweeting it like it has been some kind of shock result and an embarrassment to our club.

Edit: the same organisation posted Facebook birthday wishes to Stanley Collymore earlier. Whoever is in charge of their social media strategy is using Talksport style tactics to get numbers. Not really befitting of the BBC.

It’s because certain news outlets are out to unsettle our youth as we were miles ahead of other teams.
It’s worked with both Sancho and Diaz now.
Make Foden out to be an unwanted player but kept because of who is and the other kids begin to think of leaving too.
You are probably right SF but part of me thinks it may suit the Academy purpose anyway.
In a financial sense the media are advertising our young players for us. In any other sector of business getting millions for a good but not yet good enough apprentice would be snapped up.
As fans we want our young players to stay and continue their development to fight for PL places in our increasingly better first team but is that really going to happen?
Perhaps we should let Pep decide who we keep and no matter how good the player is reluctantly take multi millions for him as an Academy product,,

I have absolutely no issue with City using the Academy as a way of generating money, and have said so many times.
However I do take issue with a media that tries to put a negative slant on all that we do.
As someone mentioned above Foden has more first team minutes than the two wonder kids of Beckham and Scholes combined at a similar age. Yet the narrative is that he’s hardly played.

Exactly. It's a joke. Lighten up, people.

Last season, after the Liverpool league defeat, the Times sports section had a front page along the lines of "Souvenir Edition: City lose match". Same thing here - a minor bad result (in the grand scheme of things), blown up for ironic effect at how minor it really is.

Agreed but if Pep wants to keep him Foden will get special treatment. If not, then the media are doing the selling job for us.
I think the way we handle Agents is more influential on young players thinking than the negativity of a media that has traditionally been anti City anyway.

I don’t think the media were particularly ‘anti-city’ until fairly recent times. The constant drip drip of negativity from national media has an affect on everyone.

Yes thats true.

Just seeing an unintended plus in the way the biased media unsettle those extremely good young products of our Academy.
