Interesting article about the cult of personality in football in the Guardian, and the depressing idolisation of one of the worst players today, Ronaldo…. thankfully manages not to slag us off at all.

He writes “Odd behaviour is not exactly unknown in press boxes and even in Britain, where cynical neutrality used to be standard, displays of partisanship are becoming worryingly common.

The Guardian is fast becoming an irony-free zone

I thought they may struggle as clubs push the prices up when selling to them. No sign of it yet but if I was the owner of a Costa Rican pub team & Brighton were circling I’d be more excited about negotiating a sell on fee.
If it serves to suppress the purchase price then Brighton should probably embrace this.

Unbelievable yet entirely predictable. Sports journalism really is becoming one of the paradigm paradoxes of our time.
I wonder which of sports journalism or domestic politics has suffered the greatest decline in talent over the last generation.

From McIlvenney to Delaney;

From Benn to Braverman.

It’s a really tough call.
