Interesting article about the cult of personality in football in the Guardian, and the depressing idolisation of one of the worst players today, Ronaldo…. thankfully manages not to slag us off at all.

He writes “Odd behaviour is not exactly unknown in press boxes and even in Britain, where cynical neutrality used to be standard, displays of partisanship are becoming worryingly common.

I'd put money on that French reporter being a complete figment of the writer's mind, invented purely to give his report a starting point.

I'm not so sure.. there's that French guy who can never make his mind up about anything, like who is the greatest modern player (Messi? Ronaldo? Salah?) or which team is the greatest in 'Istry (PSG? Real? Barca? Liverpool?) when writing his articles.. what's his name?.. oh yeah, that's him, 'Philippe Fulop'*..

(* which just about sums up every one of the f**kers in the venal sports media these days)

Sam Wallace - one of the Utd "journalists" at the Telegraph has a pop at City (and strongly United) for City's ground investments and Utd's total lack thereof. Of course he then has a pop at City for the do called "115 charges". No comments allowed on this one apparently.

Morning all
Now the Rugby World Cup is starting has there been any coverage of the ticket shambles that we was quoted all over the press In some cases saying France should be stripped of the comp?
Or because the vermin aren't involved there will be no issues ?
I wonder if UEFA are monitoring this after getting there pants pulled down and having to pay back ticket prices to the horrible twats.
I've a feeling nothing will be said .
Slightly away from the point you're making but for what it's worth saying, Ireland Rugby fans got messed about by the French set up yesterday.
The ground was advertised as 40 minutes away from the city. Turned out the tram service wasn't up to the task. Supporters who set out two hours early, missed the first 20 minutes of the match.
In fairness, they managed to not riot, murder anyone or start crying to the tabloids.

Surely they held a candlelit vigil
