Don't understand why there's so much focus on what was an obvious penalty

Talk about it being "correct to the letter of the law these days" is nonsense as well. I remember us getting a penalty against Chelsea at home, for basically the same offence in 2011/12. Chatting absolute bollocks on Prime.

It’s not a contentious decision as such, everyone’s agreeing that as the law currently stands, it should be a penalty.

It’s just that everyone also agrees the law in its current state for handballs isn’t right. It’s always going to be difficult with “unnatural” positions but what they’re actually asking defenders to do with the current law is defend in an even more unnatural way.

It’s one of those where you’re happy if you get it and bloody annoyed if it goes against you.

If that was for Everton a bet my whole life savings that they would scream it to be handball and a penalty

The handball rule is crap but this isn’t the example to demonstrate it.

All depends on where the arm is, it could be argued never. Up to 93 it was only a deliberate act of moving it that was judged a handball, then they changed it to unnatural position but that then took into account players position from the ball too.

Back in the eighties and nineties, there were loads that were deemed “ball to hand”, used to drive me mad the other way.

Plenty to say about the penalty and the coach wreckers complaining about ours being given and theirs against Arsenal being refused, but nothing about Stones being injured because of the lunatic offside rule allowing the game to continue.

Iv'e never seen a game at Goodison where the home crowd weren't screaming 'HANDBALL' every five minutes, and I can't understand how they or anyone else thinks that wasn't a penalty if it stopped a possible goal, accidental or not.
