Bought a car off David Herd in 82 I think is was. It was the new style Cortina and was a minter. One of his salesmen sold it to me and I was going to pick it up the next day. Herd rang me up a bit pissed off, as he had promised it to a mate, but as the deal had been done he honoured it. Gave me great pleasure to let him know I was a blue...

Used to go to winter cricket nets in Withington in 1985. David Herd also went to the sessions and told me that Mark Hughes was going to Barcelona, not that I was arsed, the following season and had bought a car off him on the strength of the transfer. He was OK although not the best batsman.

Agree re the touch… that pass for Anelka’s goal in the last derby at Maine Road was sublime…. 99 per cent of players put that in the keepers hands.
