If talking to a united fan and they bring it up, you just mention the continuing decade+ Saudi telecom sponsorship , and their soccer school academy in Saudi.
Or , when speaking of gay rights, there decade+ long Aeroflot deal (terminated quietly after the 2nd Ukraine invasion).

The hypocrisy of the red cartel fans is astounding, but they never own up to it.

I believe their levels of ignorance score highly too.

Thanks for the balanced response and yeah that’s fair. I assume the practical reality is people live mostly uninterrupted lives. I should also add I’m not gay and have never been to Abh Dhabi so in many ways very unqualified to comment. But there is something that makes me uneasy about places that deem it a crime even if it is a technicality.

I guess where I’m at is:
Is it something I think about regularly/at all if I’m being honest - no
Is it a facet I would defend of a nation and it’s culture - no

Really not having a dig at anyone btw - I was musing that in my own case I sometimes maybe have been a bit too unequivocal in the defence of our club and have been dragged into defending other things which are not really football related. For my part I started to find the relentlessness of defending attacks on City a bit exhausting and now I just tell people I just go to watch the football and don’t really want to argue about my club’s financing or ownership model.

And I suspect that many of us feel exactly the same way.

The constant shit that is thrown at the club is truly horrendous and draining.

I think the redshirt propaganda machine has done a number on so many which is affecting the enjoyment of the team's performances.

I guess the answer is to try and turn a blind eye to the cunts and say fuck 'em, but it isn't always easy when shit is being thrown from so many angles.

Yeah I totally agree about the hypocrisy. A lot of it is just wilful blindness to be honest (and let’s face it a lot of the people who talk loudest are not the brightest sparks or particularly well informed so doesn’t really matter what you say).

I agree. And yes it’s easier said than done when some smug little armchair red shirt is spouting nonsense at you, on top of the constant barrage in all sections of the media

Think it’s time we all realised that a persons opinion is not worth reading or listening to unless they have educated themselves on the core issues.

You can’t fight back against the media and football zombie horde. Instead, equip yourself with knowledge and decide when you want to get involved.

It has gone too far now that common ground does not exist.

Don’t engage it’s a pointless debating with people who aren’t aware of the facts and simply want City wiped from the face of the earth as their club cannot compete with us, when 115 gets chucked in the bin the helplessness these numpties will feel as they have been hoodwinked by the media and Facebook chat bots into believing we are off to the National league.

We as a fan base need to understand that the media and PL have poisoned football in this country to such an extent it needs burning down and starting again.

IMHO business and the pursuit of money have overtaken completely what the sport means to the normal football fan, we as fans are quite literally an afterthought and even worse than that we are an asset that business can use to weaponise to achieve their aims.

We should be fucking it all off, including the high prices and a million shirts for sale crap.

I’m all for defending the club but I would find gay rights in Abu Dhabi a bit of a tough one to defend if I’m honest.

Not that I’m sure it’s particularly directly relevant to City or a discussion about football financing to be fair.

You can only really talk about our owners and gay rights i terms of Manchester City. And as far as I’m aware, we are as gay friendly as any club anywhere in the World.
