Media discussion - 2024/25

Last night I got in the car and, as ever, put Talk Sport to listen until I heard some shite (it's either that or 5 Live - same pattern - before switching to R2 or R4 - honestly!) when the 2 cockney nurds initiated my channel switch. They were talking about ref's and VAR. They spoke about players holding in the penalty area, and how ref's like to go and talk to the players to let them know that they've seen the holding that's going on. Then the ball comes in from the corner, and they inevitably give a free kick for the defence - unless it's Man City.

I was almost too shocked to switch channels, but having wobbled my head, quickly turned over for Middle Class woman of the Year with Gregg Wallace on R4.

(Para 1 is true.)

Was looking through an old work diary this morning. The attached is the Society of Editors Code of Practice for the press. Things have obviously changed over the last decade, from my thirty years working in the media previous to that. The modern fanboy cunts have driven a lorry through the first section (Accuracy) I simply don't know how they have got away with the shite in both spoken and written word, with regards to City?20241229_105559.jpg

Got my comment deleted on BBC Sports website, ‘Amorim under pressure’ article. It seems it didn’t comply with House Rules.

No horrible or aggressive words in my comment. I had the temerity to suggest that managers and players get criticised but no one mentions where it all began, Rock of Gibraltar. Odd that.
Of course they did.
You cannot comment on two different sports, can you ?
