I get the emotional point, of course, but it really doesn't stack up. None of the clubs owned by the US (and I use the term deliberately as they always refer to City as owned by Abu Dhabi) are actually owned by the US state (as Newcastle are owned by the Saudi state) or by an individual closely related to the UAE/Abu Dhabi "state" (as City are with the UAE/AD).

So, the US argument is a weak one.

The argument should simply be that City are owned by a private individual in a personal capacity, that they aren't, as a matter of fact, owned by the UAE/Abu Dhabi "state" and that this position, despite all the challenges put to the club on the financial front over more than a decade and in the fifteen tears since the takeover, has never been challenged in any legal or official document. Wishful thinking doesn't make it so. So ask for evidence and you will get simplistic platitudes in response.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that this private individual is closely linked to the "state" of the UAE/AD so we have to carry that "burden" on a personal, individual level (if we are that way inclined) and just console ourselves that City are the most successful and best run club in the PL. Personally, I can live with that burden with my morals completely unscathed.

The basis on which journalism is based is the ability of free speech yet this clown denies this by blocking people he doesn't agree with. He blocked me ages ago when i tried to argue that sportwashing can be done through sponsorship. Is there a difference between a gym owned by Daniel Kinahan and a gym were he merely sponsors and bankrolls the boxers?
