Simon Stone
Manchester United reporter at Blundell Park

Another change of job title for Slimey

Stones is an absolutely gormless c@nt…. He latches onto absolutely anything as a sign of recovery - only for it to blow up in his face. He reminds me of the coyote in Road Runner - notice the nose?

so someone is a lunatic for not agreeing with you? seems a broad stretch when your opinions are your own and nothing more doesnt, and you have kind of just made my point with your last statement, yes they have rightly been given pelters for their performance last night and have rightly gotten bad press for it but why should they be in a story about the draw for the next round which they are not in, leeds and west ham also missed out on the third round draw but werent included in the story. what is the necessity to shoehorn them into a story which they have no part of?
No, someone is a lunatic if they find something to offend them that isn't there. Several posters have made up that United have got a decent press after last night. They haven't. They are being royally mocked. BBC who are one of the worst offenders called it one of their greatest humiliations last night. They shouldn't be in the talk of the next round in general no, but if they are there to highlight once more how they got knocked out then give me that all day. They aren't sweeping it under the rug, they are openly mocking them even further, in an area they could quite easily ignore them. United losing to Grimsby is a story. It isn't something to cry about lets put it that way.

Im not crying, im just saying there is plenty of press about them, they just dont need to be shoehorned into a story they are not relevant too which seems so often to be the case.

I hope he does what Ten Hag and Solskjaer used to do regularly; have an unbeaten run that keeps the fan base hopeful he has turned it around, which keeps him in his job. The only good thing that came out of the 2024 cup final was that Ten Hag kept his job a little bit longer and damaged them even more.
Certainly don’t want them going on an unbeaten run quite yet!

Nothing good came out of the 2024 cup final, or the 2025 for that matter

They probably don't. They are a story if you like it or not though and being shoehorned in that example is not a positive for them in the slightest.

But they are being shoehorned in to show them in a negative light. One of the biggest complaints in this thread is that City are shoehorned into story's to show us in a negative light, usually about the 115 or spending but no end of other things. Now the same is happening to the Rags you still don't like it, make your mind up.
Besides I think stating that United are OUT is very relevant to last nights draw because nobody thought for one minute they would not be in it pre-match.

so why not put leeds in there also?

but why are they getting ANY press, they are out, they are no longer relevant to the story, would you expect them to be shoehorned into the CL draw today just to show that they arent in it?
They will 100% be mentioned within 1 min of the programme starting for the draw

so why not put leeds in there also?
You think a team beating another that were in the same division last season and are only separated by one division this season is the same as league 2 team beating a team 3 divisions higher than them in the premiership is the same thing? Two teams that have been so polar to each other that they haven't met in 77 years!
Beyond that your bemoaning people for finding excuses to ridicule the Rags, Red cafe is that way ----->

I'm not the idiot that thought Shef. Wed beating Leeds is as big as an upset as Grimsby beating the Rags! With that kind of logic it's no surprise you have concluded media biased exists.
I note you didn't deny that you were looking for red cafe just that you wouldn't use my directions to find it!

For me, the annoyance, and that's all it is, is that the media continue to reference united as though they are some sort of mythical benchmark for something or other that exists only in the collective minds of the media establishment. I genuinely haven't heard mention of our 4 in a row, our domestic grand slam, our record number of points or our record number of goals since the day we did them.

Those are true reference points, not what united did Iin 1999, "the class of 1992" or whether or not they are in a cup draw. The constant references to them, even when it is a match or subject wholly irrelevant to them, seem stage-managed product placement to me.
