I know we are awesome going forward, and we are solid one for one defensively too. But if you are intent on going toe for toe against an opponent, Real madrid, Barcelona, Bayern or PSG you can concede goals. Playing open attacking football can win you a lot of points and is a great way to win a league, but in a Cup, you lose one game and you are out, and if you go toe to toe you have to be the very best to win.

Are we the best team in europe? There are ways of winning the Champions League and no being the best in Europe. That is their point. And it is a genuine point. Real madrid will probably regroup. They have gotten complacent and their manager maybe needs to bring through Assensio, and drop one or two. Barca are still a force, and PSG most definitely are. Spurs beat Real Madrid but they were careful not to go toe to toe with them. They sat back and counter attacked them. Could we beat a Real madrid on full power. They had an off-day tonight.

I think we are very close to being the best in Europe at the moment. it is difficult to say. Napoli are the best in Serie A. We are the best in the Premier league. Spurs showed that Real madrid are beatable. barcelona are way ahead in La Liga but have looked very vulnerable

However form changes. The latter stages, semi-final etc are still a long way off. We maybe flying now but will we still be flying when it really matters?

It all remains to be seen. we've still got it all to prove and I hope the players are staying confident but very very determined.

Marvin,

To be honest I do not agree with your summation as from everything I have read about Pep I think in his own way he is being pragmatic, just in a different way to the status quo, as he believes his philosophy of dominating posession, not giving the ball away, playing out from the back, high press, playing on the front foot,is the best way to be defensively strong and the results so far support this theory.

So I cannot ever see Pep playing differently as to his mind this is being pragmatic and the best way of defending. Were just fortunate as a consequence we watch beautiful football in the bargain also.

Still keep posting as its good to hear alternative views, sadly people can be pretty intolerant which is pretty bizarre when you consider it is a forum.

Indeed it is, but when it is constant negativity, during a period in which we are playing probably the best football we have ever seen, it's fkn tiresome.

How come Spurs beat RM and they are potential champions league winners, yet city beat barca, reached semi's and we don't get fawned over as much as Spurs this morning. Fkin annoying. Nonetheless fuck the media, we don't need them

I had the radio on this morning and the first caller I heard was a Spurs fan complaining that all the media attention today is on City and Spurs aren't getting any credit.

That was more or less the words of one of the commentators. I watched BT Sport and ITV highlights and I forget who said what now.

I think we will too, although whether it is this season I do not know. If we do it, it will be the hard way, but the most aesthetic way.
It was Michael Owen, believe it or not.

Yes but can u be sure it WAS a spurs fan and not some planted caller to make our agendaists viewpoint both opaque and confusing?
Come on DD you will hv to do better than that mate : )

I turned on 5 live this morning just in time to hear an interview with Tueart about Agueros record. The interviewer said his favourite video when growing up was his grandads copy of Bell Lee and Summerbee.
