Just watched the highlights and I thought Roy Keane was absolutely brilliant about us last night, and I totally get what he said about us fucking up brilliant situations, as most of us have been there and witnessed it. Hopefully though this is the season when that nail is finally put in the cityitis coffin. What he said about Liverpool was also a fucking nail hit right flush on the head and made me laugh.

Stay away from talksport, it's cockney cockeral wankathon.

Aye, just like we messed it up in 2012!

We had a bloody good try and were seconds away from succeeding when we should have won that title at a canter. Made for great theatre but terrible hypertension.

City remain an underachieving club and until we prove otherwise, many people, including our own supporters, will have the prevailing view that typical City are never far from a cock-up. One of Guardiola's jobs is to change the mentality of the club and have us deliver the levels of success that we should. Every team cocks-up but, in future, those things needs to be blips in City's case and not par for the course.

Indeed it is, but when it is constant negativity, during a period in which we are playing probably the best football we have ever seen, it's fkn tiresome.

Sadly its in our DNA to be a bit pessimistic.

I do not think Pep will change his philosophy but I would not be surprised to see a more pragmatic front three with either a return to a 3-5-2 or losing a striker and playing a Silva as a deep-lying striker to help dictate the game more and control the midfield. Be interesting to see against the top sides

I seem to recall the other year when Chelsea were running away with it that they played brilliant football uptil Xmas then when it was pretty obvious that they would win the title they reverted to just about winning games with lots of rotation to keep players fresh.

what did he say about Liverpool?Surely it was good as we won 3 nil!

Marvin,

To be honest I do not agree with your summation as from everything I have read about Pep I think in his own way he is being pragmatic, just in a different way to the status quo, as he believes his philosophy of dominating posession, not giving the ball away, playing out from the back, high press, playing on the front foot,is the best way to be defensively strong and the results so far support this theory.

So I cannot ever see Pep playing differently as to his mind this is being pragmatic and the best way of defending. Were just fortunate as a consequence we watch beautiful football in the bargain also.

Still keep posting as its good to hear alternative views, sadly people can be pretty intolerant which is pretty bizarre when you consider it is a forum.
Spurs beat real madrid with 37% possession. had they gone toe to toe they'd have got beat. We go toe to toe with everyone. I like it. But I think it's fair to say that if you come up against a better team, and continue the tactic you are more likely to lose than if you adopt a counter-attacking strategy.

What better team would that be right now Marv? ;)

I'm half joking of course but right now if we stay the course the tactics you refer to will see us through against anyone. Napoli are on awesome side, that was clear to see. Some of their passing especially down the left was mesmeric and we still did them on their own patch that has to tell you what you need to know. I'm noticing that analogy of poking a bear with a stick with us. We just seem to come back at the opposition with extreme prejudice.

I think someone else said it best.. "we play a high risk but high reward game"... and I for one love it.
