There was an article by @barneyronay in The Guardian. Entitled "the bald fact for Pep is that rivals have wised up" which is fine, however within the opening paragraph is the line "is Pep Guardiola a bald, foreign, fraud, the worst kind of fraud there is?" What a twat

It is clearly meant ironically. It is no way insulting, and the context is fine.

The whole article basically says "no, he isn't, teams have just caught on as to how best to play City".

How about Barcelona blowing a 4-1 lead, Messi and all? Or Real Madrid almost blowing a 3-0 lead with Ronaldo and helped by a slightly dubious last gasp penalty? Are all those teams useless and have they also been found out?

I know it is hard not to get wound up by the wanky media but we all know their agenda and bias.

Jesus Christ - read the full fucking article you halfwit.

If anything he was being sympathetic to Guardiola.

Which is why the final paragraph states "Defeat will always leave Guardiola open to the taunts of the bald-fraud squad. In reality, to lose this way, still hammering at the same door, lost in his own methods, is simply a part of his appeal, those draining, quixotic defeats another layer to the pleasure his teams can bring."

I was just about to post the same thing....i read the article this morning and in now way was this a negative attack.

be honest, did you read all the way through?

Great piece here from Ewan Roberts in the Metro

Putting it all into perspective

The last line tells the whole story - ". . . . . . . no matter how much their detractors resent it!" The top and bottom of the last ten seasons - clubs, Meedya, EUCB (formerly known as Uefa), PiGMOL, the PL, assorted managers from the PL and other leagues have all had their denigrating two-pennorth on the subject!

The narrative has went from: Will Pep’s style really work in England? Can he ever win the league playing attacking football?

To

Now: can Pep’s football really work in the CL in April after a long season in England? He has won the league but that is a given and was predicted by many.

Laughable

And what is the significance of 'bald'? Might it not be as objectionable as, say, Catalan, Spanish or 'Johnny Foreigner' fraud.

I think to journos and thickets bald rhymes with fraud and is an easy and lazy jibe.

It's a strange week where jabba is defending peps record in the sun, but barney and a few others have been itching to find fault

Exactly.. the flip-flopping by the various media johnnies according to whichever way the wind of opinion is blowing just shows how little thought/research these overpaid buffoons put into their jobs.. The main problem Pep and our squad have had to face in the past week or so is the increasing tiredness that is affecting performances, the result of 8 months of relentless, high pressure, high quality football, the likes of which NO English club side has EVER attempted before.. Ronay mentions this but only in passing.. If Pep gets the squad strengthened in time for next season (and let’s hope the World Cup doesn’t impact too much on existing squad members as well as any new players Pep brings in), then watch what happens in 2018-19.. this is only just the start..

I did and it was a lot of snide digs dressed up, Barney has always loved a little dig and has had to wait 10 months to get his bald fraud shite in
Agreed. It is essentially a snide article by Ronay. He tried, and failed, to make it ironic. He is a typically smug Guardian writer who needs to get out a bit more and speak to real supporters instead of engaging with the digital fanboys who rarely attend matches. In other words be a proper journalist instead of a cut-and-paste merchant.
