Frank as you are such a model of virtue why dont you decide on a similar cause, get adopted by a charity as their figure head, sign a letter to the PM on their headed paper and drafted by them, get several BBC interviews and thus become the hero of the nation.
It wont happen because you are not rich and famous. And those two characteristics are what made the campaign plus the clever PR people of course a success.
It makes me laugh that the lefties on here cannot see past that. Money and fame made it work not the efforts of the thousands of volunteers doing it willingly every day.

So your issue is with how society is constructed, which is certainly not unique to Marcus Rashford. So why the digs at ‘Sir’ Marcus?

It is wrong, I agree, that the persons at the coal face do not receive more plaudits for their contribution but that does not mean I will denigrate/sneer at a young man, who is rich and famous, for doing good and championing a worthwhile cause.

You are merely assuming that the majority of people do not trust him. I dispute that. I also feel that a large proportion of those in that group are only in that group because they are sheep. I doubt they are in that group because they have drawn their own conclusions after familiarising themselves with his work. As for his Whatsapp group members containing certain persons you do not have any time for, what possible comment are you waiting for me to make? I couldn’t care less who he talks to.
I wouldn't doubt he got info that we don't K1, his position undoubtedly gave him some access, however I would imagine that is somewhat scarce these days.

My issue is that HE, as he was supposedly connected to City, was in a unique position to put our side forward, I didn't see him once do that to any great degree, instead he chose to get in bed with the 'Wanksapp' Spod group, who were clearly of a certain agenda, I expected better from him, some balance, instead he went skulking around on here under a name which would have people believe he was a Blue, and he would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for (those pesky kids) his little 'fit of pique', at least Stuart Brennan came on AS HIMSELF to defend his position.

To me, rightly or wrongly, that CAS shenanigans was a case of "you're either with us, or against us", a few had the courage of their convictions and told it how it was, the majority went the "guilty as charged" route, Spam Lee, I feel, and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt here, tried to sit on the fence a little, for most fans, me included, that wasn't good enough.

Talking about the rich and famous. Big headlines about Gareth Bale giving £10,000 for Welsh kids. Considering he's worth about £80m that's loose change to him. Doubt if I would get headlines for donating £3.00 -the equivalent of my worth.

I respect your opinion but to me its depressing to think like that. I personally do not care who he plays for, he has elevated the charity into the national consciousness, put pressure onto a government and motivated other organisations to get involved. Personally I think its nothing to do with United but wouldnt care less if they did get positive PR as a consequence.
Ffs and l thought l was cynical. The thought of a big rich club saying 'lets use that children' charity for pr' is bad enough but when people like you say you couldnt care less about the cynical manipulation of children for - well ffs!!
I care particularly for the black kids in Africa - you must have seen the ads but trying to get interest in here is like pissing in a hurricane. People care more about political movements.

Put it into context his name and fame is going more than he is.
I am glad we agree about those at the coal face. Some of them will go broke in the current climate. I dont think footballers will. Unless they are David James.

The publicity is worth 10 k for him.

In the words of Alexander Pope, "Do good by stealth, and blush to find it fame."

It is extremely self-serving to allow such charitable deeds to be leaked into the public knowledge, especially when it isn't even sacrificial giving in the first place.

Fair play to the rich and famous people who give without the need for reciprocal publicity. Ones who fall into the category of having their good deeds found out accidentally are Juan Mata, whom it was reported gives 1% of his income to charity, and other anonymous individuals that do likewise.

As for Rashford, I am still slightly sceptical about this whole thing. Whilst the action is very commendable, and children have benefited from the campaign, part of me thinks the situation is being exploited to give positive publicity to Manchester United. When Vinnie donated the process of his testimonial season too the homeless in Manchester, it was a magnanimous gesture, but the focus was on the plight of the homeless. I am yet to be convinced that the free meals for children of the primary focus of Rashford's campaign, when we constantly see articles about him, about his upbringing, about United.

That is my take on it. I am not taking anything at from Rashford by the way, but I am doubtful of the whole PR machine that is Manchester United.

Same here tbh. I wasnt bothered what rashford (or any of the other self-image serving celebs helping out from behind safety of their computer screens), until he went out front line and actually helped out (I assume that was orchestrated too).

But yes it means nothing when compared to the unsung millions actually getting their hands dirty.

What rashford had done is brilliant and raised the issue undoubtedly, but yes let's not forget he gets rewarded - where others don't.

Joe pasqual is my hero, from day one he was helping out on the front line where the rest of us are. Unsung hero's deserve the plaudits that rashford is getting so much more, so much.

Previous winners of Milk Cup? Past recipients of Littlwoods Pools funding.

Seriously how ridiculous does that stuff of theirs look?
Conveniently now run of time to show the Salad pen incident but just said will go down as clever play....why can they not say cheating ? Its not clever play its cheating...from certain players and VAR who can see thry are cheating but no one has the balls to say it in the media.

Exactly.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Robbie Savage does stuff for the Alzheimers Society as his father died of a related condition. Good for him doing it and good for him doing it quietly.

His quiet modest team mate Mata for a start.
Talking of team mates it is sickening that MagLiar spent £63000 on the piss in half a day without a murmur of criticism. Everybody too busy defending him for his drunken behaviour and swallowing the false statement by Trafford Law and PR department that his conviction has been quashed. What do those Greek lawyers know about Greek law anyway?

On sky sports news now Liverpool being tagged as Premier league winners, previous European champions and previous world champions....WT actual F ??
Previous bribe takers who threw a game that saved Manchester United from relegation.
Previous hackers of a rival club's computers.
Previous attempters to furlough low paid staff.

But the media never tire of saying it is the biggest scourge on the modern game - when it suits.

I think the police (not Merseyside of course) would say they have lots of previous.

I agree with the vast majority of that but why the sneering, not by you, at Marcus Rashford?

The issue is with how society is constructed and lets be honest, on here, the gnashing of teeth is solely down to which football club he club represents as I cannot remember the same cynicism when Komps, for example, was promoting the issues surrounding homelessness.
