This is 100 per cent true. United fans have turned into scousers. They are literally fixated with the past. Perhaps it is a comfort blanket for them. It reminds me of all those huge firms that have gone out of business in the digital age. There is a collective burial of heads in the sand. The arrogance and dismissal of City is where the rags have got themselves into the situation they are now. Keep repeating the Greatest club in the world to themselves whilst City walk off with all the trophies. The fact that the likes of Harry Kane would probably pick City over United 9 times out of 10 does not compute. Why would Harry Kane want to play at the swamp, they shit the bed in January when they had to kick on in the league. They can’t even get past some Turkish no hopers to get through the group stages in the champions league.
Once they let go of the past and banging on about the United way they might get themselves to a point where they can compete. Unfortunately they have a manager who can’t shut up about the past, long may he remain in charge.
The United management has been arrogant and complacent about City for so long as shown by Fergie's graceless comment: "Not in my lifetime." The world has changed dramatically in the last 10 years and they have not changed with it.
Some of their local fans are finally waking up to the reality. They can stroll round Ancoats and see the 6000 homes and businesses Sheikh Mansour has built there, soon they will be attending concerts at Europe's biggest arena, and all the time they will be pouring more cash into City's wallet.
It's nothing to do with "sportswashing." We have mugged them in their own backyard!
