News night just said Chelsea first to back out as well. Cunts
That's pretty much as it's been portrayed for the last 3 hours. I haven't heard City saying anything - maybe I've missed it with trying to keep up with Bluemoon's very fast moving threads. What a couple of days it's been. The media are always miles behind when it comes to City - if there are any saving graces for us - like being the first of the shitty 6 to pull out - I'm sure it'll be ignored or glossed over. BUT, City and Chelsea are regarded as funded by dirty money - foreign, not American - so I'm sure we'll remain tainted long after the scum and the scouse are rehabilitated by them.
As I type, The other FAB 4 have withdrawn from the Super League. F... me. What's next?
Enough!!!!

All the shit aside, City have come out of this with some credit tonight. The comments by Aleksander Čeferin about City in general, and City coming back into the UEFA family are very encouraging.

Not going to lie, my head’s gone now.

Much as I enjoyed that very rare flattering piece it is based on a false premise. The idea that Sheikh Mansour bought our club to improve his image and "win friends and influence people" is absurd. He could have done that a lot easier than buying up large chunks of East Manchester.
The takeover of City has always been about making money and so far our owner has done very well. Herbert talks about the £1.3bn investment but fails to mention that he has trebled the value on his investment with the club now worth at least £3bn. He will make about another £1bn on his property investments alone and has recouped £654m by selling part of the club to US and Chinese investors.
I am totally comfortable with Sheikh Mansour making healthy profits. These journos just can't accept that we have a very successful business model and are a sustainable organisation. You even see people on this forum saying we are being "bankrolled." This is just total nonsense.

City leading the way.

The Super League nightmare is OVER as Big Six all announce they have pulled out following furious backlash from fans, players and pundits, with Man City and Chelsea leading the way... and Ed Woodward RESIGNS as Manchester United chief

The events of the last 72 hours have proved how pitifully unfit for purpose the vast majority of the football media really are.
Some of us have been telling them for years to wake up and see the truth, that American owners posed the greatest existential threat to football as we know it.
Instead of employing proper critical thinking and committing to fair, inquisitive and honest journalism, the jackals and rubes were played. Whether blinded by personal and tribal club loyalties or the base, venal clickbait demands of modern digital news, Almost to a man they fell for the American redshirt deflection tactic of “Look over there! Arabs!!” while all this was going on right under their noses.
The football media has come out of this almost as badly as anyone else

Hattenstone has a piece in the MUG.

Basically blaming fans for not protesting about Thaksin and Sheikh Mansour. He neglects to mention that it's not individual owners but the profit system, but that's the Guardian for you. Blaming the fans lack of activism for what we now have. The whole of football is ruined basically not because of bad apples Mr Hattenstone but because of a political system which your newspaper supports. Putting foreigners in the dock because they aren't part of the UK political system isn't particularly useful either. You were wrong. Not us.

To be fair the guardian is hardly supportive of the political system or profit
