Just had SSN in in the background, they've talked about Arsenal, Chavs, women's sport, cricket and about 1 minute of our win yesterday. On the 1pm headlines, starts with the Dippers lifting the CL Trophy, then Arsenal and Chelsea coming up and finally an Australian cricketer doing something. Absolutely fuck all about us, nothing, nadda, zilch, piss all, disgrace.

The bizarre thing is that Bajowksi's behaviour undermined his colleague Stuart Brennan who wrote a fair and balanced match report for the paper. What is Bajowksi's role supposed to be? It's hard to see how mocking City fans on Twitter can be of any value to the Manchester Evening News. It is a crazy position to adopt when you look at how important City are to the City of Manchester itself. The MEN should be celebrating the club's success not getting into social media feuds with our supporters.

Absolutely. I've seen a number of journos mentioning how loud both sets of fans were but all you could hear were spurs fans. It sounded like all the City fans were watching from the beer garden at the Green Man.

Is Brennan a rag? Spoke to a few blues who are journos and they've been rejected from Muen positions for some bizarre reasons

Brennan was a United fan but I think he covers City very well. He has also fought the club's corner well when we have been slaughtered by the national press, especially during and after the CAS case. I think he's a good old school journalist who doesn't let his football allegiance cloud his work.
On the other hand he is let down by antics of people like Bajowksi who seems to enjoy winding up City fans on Twitter. Mocking the people who you need to purchase your products is not a good move in my view.

There's a rag who writes at the same website as I do and often puts sly digs about City in his pieces. I often challenge him but he just blanks me. Its not obvious to the average fan what is a dig and what isn't.

Stuart Brennan is a consummate professional who does his job to the best if his ability. He doesn’t let any personal ties or preferences show up in his writing. I think Stuart Mathieson who covered united at the MEN for years was actually a blue. Again, you wouldn’t have known from his work because he was a proper pro.
The likes of Luckhurst, Bajkowski and the new breed aren’t fit to lick their boots. Twitter trolls and clickbait merchants
 
Brennan comes across as the best of a bad bunch when it comes to the Evening News. Whenever I've read his pieces they come across as fair and balanced whilst not being over the top praiseworthy to appease a fan base.
The fact he comes on here to defend himself and explain certain things deserves credit as well.
The rest of the sycophantic gobshites can fuck off though. Long ago sold their journalistic integrity in order to keep their audience happy.
Luckhurst, Robson and Bajkowski are an embarrassment to their chosen profession.

I used to love German football. Cheap tickets, great atmospheres, German beer. I have been to many games in Germany and still watch a lot on TV. It used to be on a par with English club football but the standard now is much lower than the Premier League.

Bayern is the only club that because of their commercial income and the success can hold up financially with the other top European clubs whereas the other clubs often lose their best players to this top clubs. Germany - in addition to the 50+1 has a special licensing system that prevents the clubs from overspending. The most German clubs have a wages to revenue ratio of below 50% - compare that to other European clubs.

The German "handicap" is not just the 50+1 but special financial rules in Germany.

Investors (apart from a 50+1) go to an environment where they can make the most money. The EPL with its high TV income just is a lot more attractive to them as the Bundesliga where the margins are a lot lower and where you work risk adverse and where you cannot make image points as an investor. And yes, maybe as fan of City or Chelsea you like to have an investment that does not seem to be bound on the usual "profit thinking" - but I doubt that the clubs (and their fans) that before were trailing Manchester United really preferred that.

If United did not implode in the recent seasons - much (but not all) an effect of having the Glazers as investors - the rivalry situation in the EPL would be different to the current one, too.

Is the standard really lower than in the EPL? It is another type of football. The most matches - even between the top clubs - really bore me a lot more than a lot of the Bundesliga matches, do - but maybe it is just because the players and clubs aren't so familiar to me. Wolfsburg - Frankfurt last week was one of the best matches I saw in this season.
