He’s deputy prime minister, he’d struggle to be more involved?

It’s all a moot point though, the UAE are Uk and US main allies in the middle east.

If Mansour rocked up in England the red carpet would be rolled out in Government and with the Royal family, to the extent if the PL tried forcing him out I wouldn’t be suprised at Government intervention.
The RAF still operates out of Al Minhad airbase in the United Arab Emirates but imo the UAE is positioning itself as a non-aligned nation that faces towards the rest of Asia.

Worth noting here that UAE is an important source of intelligence for the UK. One of Mansour's brothers was a special advisor to Cameron when he was PM.
I assume they provide similar data to USA.
Of course they do. But that will become a source of tension in the future because they don't want to be stooges forever. Why would a nation that is going to be on the Moon soon and in the Asteroid Belt inside the decade have a subservient relationship with a nation like the UK? The political relationships between the UAE and the UK reflect a colonial past. There will be tensions ahead.

Yes, they seem to be treading a delicate path. The Emir was to have a meeting with Putin shortly, I believe. Don't know if it's still on.

The assumption that the current relationship is subservient is well wide of the mark.

Delaney now trying to play the geopolitics expert in his latest, a subject he is evidently so clearly out of his depth on.

He’s claiming Saudi Arabia & the UAE are moving towards Russian orbit from the West, the very day the UAE announces it is going to produce more crude oil to lower rising costs in the West, caused by Russian actions. This leading to market upturns accross all of the major Western stock markets.

The man is a moron.
It’s utterly comical the way that thick **** tries to pontificate about matters that are manifestly way above his intellectual pay grade.

They were. They don't want to be. They see themselves as part of Asia not a British colonial outpost which was their past.

In his live coverage of the last night's match in the Guardian Barry Glendenning claimed City fans were chanting "Come on Citeh" (his spelling). I emailed him to point out that's not how it's pronounced in Manchester and he's come back accusing me of all sorts of stuff and saying I should be spending more time worrying about the war and refugees. Very touchy fellow.
When City drew PSG in the Champions League Quarter Final last season, Glendenning said he hoped PSG would beat City because of City's Emirati owner. City are their bad guys and it wont change.
