The meeting had fuck all to do with football or Sheikh Mansour's ownership of City. He met Assad as a represenative of the government of the UAE to discuss regional political and security issues and not to debate the merits of a false number 9 or VAR controversies.

The bitter twats at the BBC need to get back in their box.

"Labour MP Chris Bryant, who is also chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Russia, questioned if Sheikh Mansour was a "fit and proper person to be owning a football club" in the wake of the meeting.

Bryant also said it would be "good to see the back of" the City owner, while pointing out the links between Assad and Russian President Vladimir Putin."

The UAE are trying to engage with Assad as a way of getting him around the negotiating table to end the 11 year conflict. The UK are adopting the position of no relations with Assad to force him to the table. After 11 years it's not worked.

Is the UAE's approach the correct one? Or is the UK's isolation policy of no engagement the correct approach?

Also, why are City being mentioned in the same breath as Putin's Russia, Abramovich & Chelsea, when Abu Dhabi haven't attacked or invaded anyone?

Why is Bryant mentioning Abu Dhabi/City, but not Saudi Arabia who're fighting a proxy war in the Middle East which has killed thousands & created a humanitarian crisis?

Hey, get back in the pen. Just think, the Good Sheikh is gonna get us another 250-goal striker, , and the first fifty are coming in his first season!

And let no one forget that Assad is a qualified dentist. The Good Sheikh was going for a dental hygiene check. It's true, 'cos I saw it on Russia Today!
That conjures up images of Laurence Olivier giving Dustin Hoffman a dental check up in the film The Marathon Man.

Might be worth a separate thread anyway. Most people don’t frequent the media thread due to tin foil hat wearing posters pontificating in there.
To be honest, this issue is to do with Parliament mentioning City. The media are merely reporting what Chris Bryant said, parts of which seem seated in a deep rooted hatred of Manchester City Football Club.

I'm struggling to see what City or its owner have done here? SM is trying to end a damaging 11 year war by diplomacy, as nothing else seems to have worked.

Russia will come out of the war with Ukraine, damaged & weakened, so it seems an opportune time for it to be pointed out that without Russian support, he's literally got nowhere else to go.

But again, I'm struggling to see what this has got to do with Manchester City Football Club? \0/
