They
They don't own a sizeable chuck of Newcastle though. That's the Saudi PIF. We criticise idiots in the media who don't seem to know the difference between the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar etc so it's somewhat embarrassing that a City fan comes out with this.

They do own Emirates though so it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask if anyone is talking about sanctioning Arsenal or cancelling their sponsorship of the FA Cup.
:) Whoops

At least I know the difference between Newmarket and Newcastle. Embarrassing post.

Who's told them to say it?

American owners?

I think the problem with the IEA is you can't find out the answer to that question. It's one of the three UK based 'think tanks' rated as 'highly opaque' and it chooses to not disclose the basis of it's funding.

When you add in that the CEO has stated that donors are able to influence the salience and substantive content of it's reports, I think it is more prudent to think of it as a lobbying group rather than charitable/educational research think tank in the traditional sense.

LOL. Teach me to read properly. But that was a truly embarrassing reply so apologies for that.

More importantly, you're right that it's only football that seems to be held to a higher set of moral values than other sports and whole areas of business and politics. But we know why that is, which is that there's a group of owners in football who have a transparent agenda.

The drip drip feed of misinformation continues.

I expect a US friendly owner will take over Chelsea. Then watch this space for "New Rules" aimed at fucking any club off with "Funny looking owners"

Closely followed by no promotion or relegation, matches played wherever the highest bid comes from and Franchise business models. But USA owners are the ok, they are mainly white and don't dress funny!!!

UK policy:
"The UK works for a political solution that will establish a lasting settlement to the conflict and protects the rights of all Syrians. We believe that the only forum capable of achieving this is the UN-led Geneva process; the UK fully supports the work of UN Envoy Geir Pedersen"

(Oct 2021) UN Envoy visits the UAE:

UAE rep visits Damascus:

"The recent visit of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to Damascus was among the efforts towards building bridges in the region.
The UAE also stressed the importance of strengthening and activating the Arab role in a manner consistent with the diplomatic efforts of the UN envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, which would contribute to making progress on the political track, hoping to end the crisis and restore security and stability to Syria and the region."

Back to the beginning: UK policy: "We believe that the only forum capable of achieving this is the UN-led Geneva process; the UK fully supports the work of UN Envoy Geir Pedersen"

And current UK position on this week's talks between the Assad government and opposition groups:
Daily struggles of the Syrian people should serve as a dire warning to the international community - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

"The UK welcome’s Special Envoy Pederson’s continued efforts and the intention to reconvene the Constitutional Committee talks in Geneva in the second half of March. The Syrian regime must engage meaningfully with this process. We urge all parties, including the regime’s backers, to redouble their efforts to find a way forward."

NO-ONE is talking about not dealing with Assad.

Whether it's a good idea is another matter, but normalisation of relations with the Assad regime is not just a UAE issue.
I can’t believe Zelenskyy is prepared to have a meeting with Putin to negotiate a resolution

Surely with Putin’s war crimes Zelenskyy will want nothing to do with him & would rather stay at war instead of trying to negotiate peace & stability.

Especially seeing as the British sporting press & a no mark MP might take umbrage with it, which is clearly more important to leaders of countries thousands of miles away than peace & stability in their region

Oh, hang on a minute……….

A headline popped up from the Ibtimes suggesting that city could face Gov sanctions like Chelsea. The publication is owned by the Americans so it must be true!

The stench of fear from the glazers and Fenway is rife. We are well and truly entering the world of politikball with your host Gary Neville!!!

Chris Bryant has always been an opportunist MP.

A priest who grew up as a Tory who was parachuted into his safe seat by Tony Blair who didn't like the idea of a popular local socialist being selected./

Another Red Tory.
