Sam Lee retweeted the Der Spiegel tweet without comment.

You'd think he, being the City correspondent of the Athletic would have rubbished it, and followed up with an article putting the record straight.

But then, his true colours have been showing since the recent Athletic takeover.
Spot on. He wants City fans view on his Twitter feed about the title run in (Presumably this helps make him money) but at the same time puts an anti City article (rather cowardly without comment) on his Twitter feed. If the Athletic valued City fans like they do with liverpool and United they would have people who care about our club.

I personally don’t think City fans should have anything to do with him and any other individual or organisation that wants to do us harm.

Caught some of an interview on newstalk fm in Ireland. The guy literally said there is only unproven circumstantial evidence and next thing said so therefore City are 100% state owned.

The interviewer was lapping it up without a challenge.

This is why I hate sports journalists. They are like echo chambers of their own bias.

They should be ashamed to see war correspondents being shot at for probably half the money.

It's also a good indicator this isn't really a bombshell, because anything they thought was a bombshell would have been released with the first round of planned articles or in the 3 subsequent years.
Exactly. Why would they hold anything back?
The main revelation seems to be that the PL is investigating us for the same things as UEFA investigated us for. It's hardly a big scoop is it?!

It has not been officially dropped but I don't believe it was ever started. I am sure that UEFA knew all along who was leaking and were happy to let the information get out. Many UEFA officials are corrupt but most of them are not stupid. They knew they didn't have a case, that's why Ceferin tried to cut a deal with City, but to use Khaldoon's own words from our earlier FFP case we weren't prepared to "take the pinch" a second time.
Leaking the details of the probe got them off the hook allowing them to say to the cartel clubs: "We did our best it's all the fault of CAS." I wouldn't be surprised if the PL are using the same playbook. They have already been told by a judge that he won't accept any more delays.
The whole thing is no more than a smear campaign. Some of the the Der Spiegl claims date back 13 years FFS and the PL have apparently been investigating them for more than three years. They are just taking the piss. Leaking the allegations is damage limitation by the PL because they know the judge is going to dismiss their baseless claims just like CAS did. They know that the mud sticks with City whatever the outcome.
My recollection is that due to leaks from UEFA to very Liverpool sympathetic journalists, we refused to cooperate zny further
In the Feb we were banned
In the October CAS overturned the ban
Former LFC chief executive, Rick Parry, was on UEFA 's investigative Committee and left about the time we made the complaints and stopped cooperating
It's almost as if UEFA knew where the leaks were coming from, but as that person had left the organisation they didn't take it any further

One of the UK’s most experienced leaders in football, Rick Parry - Chairman of the EFL Board - served as both chief executive of the Premier League between 1991 and 1997, and Liverpool Football Club between 1997 and 2009.
Vastly experienced, his main contribution to the formation of the Premier League was the introduction of a governance structure which included the formula for the sharing of TV revenues among Clubs. A formula which remained unchanged for 25 years.
In 2008, a year in which the University of Liverpool awarded him an honorary doctorate for his services to the City of Liverpool, Parry was also elected to the Board of the European Club Association. Since leaving Liverpool the following year, he has carried out a variety of football related consultancy projects in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, the US and Mexico.
Parry carried out two assignments for the UK government – joining the Sports Betting Integrity Panel in 2009 and advising the DCMS Select Committee on its football governance review in 2011.
In September 2016, he was elected to the Investigatory Chamber of UEFA’s Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Control Board, having been nominated by the European Club Association. He stepped down in October 2019.
Parry brings a wealth of knowledge to the EFL, and will be responsible for overseeing the growth and development of the EFL, with the aim of ensuring the continued strength of EFL competitions, commercial success and governance.

Interesting that the Spiegel story says that we’re in a dispute with the English Football League (EFL). Oops…….
