We know one thing for sure, before the season is out the tactical genius that is OGS will be a regular on Sly or BT or both. Will fit in nicely as he won’t have to give up his early morning paper round

I completely disagree mate, I thought they were very good, but we were better. You don't need to be told about their front three, but I thought they defended fantastically well for about an hour. They got blocks and interceptions in, and carved out two or three clear scoring chances against us. Given that we were without Foden, KDB and Grealish, I thought we played at our absolute best. And we still only beat them by one goal.

But, like they do every time they play us, they wilt after about an hour because they cant handle the intensity we play at. We managed - largely - to keep them at arms length and in the end we overwhelmed them.

I think they are the best side we have played this season. But they cannot operate at our level for 90 minutes whereas Liverpool and Chelsea can.

There are some points that have been made about them are valid. Their front three does no defensive work. Their midfield is a shadow of itself when they have Veratti. I don't know why they don't play the Italian GK who dominated his area in Paris.

I just don't think they were shite

You seem quite a sensitive type. You asked a question and I answered it, whilst rationalising my response, agreeing with you and saying something nice about you (albeit qualified). Your response, therefore, is nothing short of weird.

Give it a rest. Far too much time spent on a simple comment l made about the BBC again favouring a redshirt team over City for achieving exactly the same thing.

I think he did. I don't remember much about the home leg except that we went in front (through Mike Channon, though I can't picture the goal) and we thought we might be on the way to another impressive win. But they came back into it and certainly deserved the draw.

They had a relatively poor season in the Bundesliga that year, but Moenchengladbach were a very good side - German champions the previous two years, IIRC, in which they also reached the European Cup final and semi-final. They went on to win the UEFA Cup after knocking us out, as well.

Malcolm actually asked Nicky Reid on his debut to mark Simonsen. One of those crazy decisions Mal sometimes used to take - later, I started to wonder if he did stuff like that specifically so he could be hailed as a visionary if it worked out.

You don’t fool me, GDM. I could feel your hurt. I know you too well. To be fair to you you were definitely unfairly treated. I read your original “patronising condescending” post a couple of times to see if I was missing something.

It’s all very well being called a **** when you are being one, but nobody likes to be unfairly accused.
