Maybe so, although in reality I suspect clubs are free to negotiate whatever terms and currency they choose. Anyway, this is a cross England transfer and the press tend to report them in pounds (as is the case with pretty much all other transfers) - and my point was only about the media reporting.

Somebody should point out to Bingo that City also spend what they earn but City's owner invests the club's profits back into the team and club while Liverpool's owners repatriate much of their profit back to the USA and straight into other projects or their own pockets.

Just a barefaced lie. Liverpool's revenues are very close to City's with a difference of just £8m in total over the last five seasons. Most of the huge amount of cash which Liverpool earn goes into the pockets of its US owners.
It reminds me of Arsene Wenger who kept accusing City of "financial doping" to deflect criticism of his greedy owners. He kept his mouth shut about lack of investment in the squad while he was the highest paid Manager in world football. It took Arsenal fans 10 years to realise they had been fleeced.
