Its a bit harsh to say united fans don't have a club anthem. They have knick knack paddy wack. Even the players sing it.
Why thIs nursery rhyme boils our piss I don't understand. Back in the nineties we had our own to the tune of Michael Finnegan with verses about Ryan Giggs and Beckham's family their may have been more, bloody offensive they were too . The day we stop swopping banter with the rags is the day footy dies.

Speak to a rag and they will state that they don't care about us as we are small time, yet it is always their most popular song

No he’s not. My first game was 1967 and it was sung then.
Ah but Frothy is on about the 80's. I am not sure if that is all the ten years of that decade or just one or two seasons, perhaps 87/88 and 88/89.
But he is adamant that we never sang it.
I have already had to apologise.

Whose piss does it boil? Any Blues I know just laugh at the fact the sad cunts sing nursery rhymes, and the irony of the fact that a bunch of cockney knobs sing City fuck off home while they’re on day trips to Manchester

No, your mistaken
He isn’t. It was regularly sung, even when I started going on my own with mates in the mid 80s.
we used to sing a slightly staccato version though.

”walk on (clap clap)
walk oonnn (clap clap)
with hope (clap clap)
in your heart (clap clap)
and you’ll never walk (clap clap)
alone (clap clap)
youll neevveerrr walk (clap clap)
alone (clap clap)”

you’d hear it at most games.

If I wasn't a drama Queen, I would also apologise to frothy.

It isn't, and?
It is actually a song from WW2. Google is your friend ;)

It was April, 1945 – less than a month before Nazi Germany’s surrender, in a country yearning for hope. In the dark days of World War II, Rogers and Hammerstein’s Carousel premiered on Broadway and with it the song of survival: “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

It was also definitely sung at Maine Road & by loads of other teams too

Please could you tell me how I could become a drama queen I did ask my careers advisor at school but he wasn't much help.
That said he told me I should always go to the shops with a friend. When I asked him why he said that way I would never walk alone. Unfortunately I don't think we were stood on the Kippax when he told me.

We sang a version in the 60s:

G-E-O, -R-G-E
Georgie Best has got VD
With a knick knack Paddy Wack
Give the dog a bone
That's why Eva fucked off home
Eva (Haraldsted) was his Danish girlfriend/fiancee at the time.

Did I ever tell you, back in the 60's, a friend of mine was manager of an expensive watch shop on Deansgate. George was in the shop looking for a new Rolex. My friend offered him a 50% discount if George scored a hat-trick in his next game. Bestie got two, but not the third. Someone in the rags dressing room complained that George wouldn't pass the ball!

”walk on (clap clap)
walk on (clap clap)
with hope (clap clap)
in your heart (clap clap)
and you’ll ne (clap clap)
ver walk (clap clap)
alone (clap clap)
youll ne (clap clap)

alone (clap clap)”
Fuck-off (clap clap)
Fuck-off (clap clap)
etc etc
